We’re excited to share a first look at two preliminary housing concepts we’ve been developing with the Anacortes Able Housing Initiative.

The N Avenue and 20th Street projects explore how existing homes can be thoughtfully adapted to create supported housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities—while remaining residential, welcoming, and connected to the surrounding neighborhood.

At N Avenue, an existing home is reimagined as three self-contained residences designed to balance independence, accessibility, privacy, and companionship.

Just next door, the 20th Street concept adds two additional resident households along with a shared community space for art, music, games, skill-building, gathering, and connection.

Together, the two properties begin to illustrate a larger vision: small-scale homes, shared spaces, gardens, paths, and opportunities for community—without losing the identity and privacy of home.

We’re grateful to be part of helping Anacortes Able Housing Initiative explore what this could become.

We're excited to begin work on the Anacortes Able Housing cottage project in collaboration with renowned architect Ross Chapin. Together, we're helping explore thoughtful, accessible housing solutions that will expand opportunities for people with disabilities in our community.

These early concept sketches, hand-rendered by our principal architect Mike Underwood, capture the beginning of a collaborative design process, and we're looking forward to seeing this vision take shape in the months ahead.

Thank you to Anacortes Able Housing Initiative for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful project. We look forward to sharing more as the design progresses.

One of the best parts of our work is seeing a project finally open its doors.

Congratulations to midwives Dr. Miranda Montellano and Kelly McKittrick and the entire Anacortes Midwifery Care team on the grand opening of the new Anacortes Birth Center this past weekend. Their vision for a calm, welcoming space focused on personalized, evidence-based care has become a reality, and we're honored to have played a part in bringing it to life.

From concept sketches and renderings to the finished building and beautiful birth suites, it's incredibly rewarding to see a project evolve into a place that will support families and so many new beginnings for years to come.

Construction is officially underway on the Anacortes Fire Station remodel.

We’re excited to see work begin on this project, which focuses on improving and supporting the day-to-day functionality of the station while keeping operations active throughout construction.

We’re grateful to be working alongside Lazer Construction and the broader project team as this next phase gets underway.

Looking forward to seeing the finished project better support the firefighters and staff who use the space every day.

We’re excited to share completed photos of the Anacortes Birth Center.

This project has been especially meaningful to our team - designed to support women during birth and create a calm, welcoming environment for families and caregivers alike. From early planning through construction, the focus remained on simplicity, comfort, and connection to the surrounding site.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see the space come to life, and we’re looking forward to it serving the community very soon.

It was a pleasure working with Miranda and Kelly with Anacortes Midwifery Care, whose vision and care for the space are reflected throughout.

If you’ve been around town lately, you may have noticed this taking shape at Ace Hardware of Anacortes.

This greenhouse addition is currently under construction as part of ongoing improvements to expand and enhance the space.

It’s always rewarding to see projects move from concept into construction—and to catch these moments out in the wild. We’ve enjoyed working alongside Chad Fisher Construction and the project team to help bring this one to life.

Every project starts long before a set of construction drawings.

In the early stages, we’re exploring how a site can function—how people move through it, where gathering happens, and how different uses come together to create a cohesive experience.

This concept looks at a more flexible approach to development, incorporating small-scale structures (like repurposed shipping containers), outdoor dining, and shared gathering spaces like a central plaza and stage.

It’s not always the most visible part of the process, but these early studies play a big role in shaping what a project can become.

Some of our favorite work happens at this stage—exploring ideas and thinking through how a place can come to life.

We loved being part of this project ❤️

This is the Red Door Thrift Shop here in Anacortes—a space that does so much more than resell goods. Their work supports people in our community through everything from food and shelter to helping families and individuals in need.

We worked on an addition to expand their building, creating more space for donations, sorting, and day-to-day operations so they can continue to grow their impact.
