CES 2027 Cost-Saving Tip: Plan Your Warehouse Timeline Early.

CES may not be until January, but your booth materials may need to start moving months before the show.

This is where many exhibitors underestimate the timeline.

For international exhibitors, getting materials from production to the U.S. involves multiple steps — manufacturing, packing, ocean freight, customs, delivery, advance receiving, and finally, move-in.

And every step has a deadline.

One of the most overlooked parts of CES booth planning?

Union labor.

If you’re exhibiting at CES, understanding the local labor system is just as important as designing the booth itself.

A common assumption is:“We’ll send a team a few days before the show and get some extra workers if we need them.”

At major U.S. venues, it doesn’t always work that way.

Depending on the venue and the type of work involved, certain installation, material handling, electrical, and other services may be subject to union labor requirements.

And there’s another challenge:
Union labor needs to be planned ahead.

At a show the size of CES, waiting until move-in to figure out labor can mean limited availability, higher costs, and unnecessary delays.

The work can also be highly specialized. Different tasks may require different labor categories, which means poor coordination can quickly turn into extra hours — and extra budget.

Let’s start with something that can easily be overlooked:Choosing the right service provider.

CES publishes an official list of service partners for exhibitors. If a contractor claims to be an authorized or qualified service provider, it’s worth verifying their credentials before signing a contract.

Because when you arrive at the venue, having a good proposal isn’t enough. The right permits, credentials and authorization matter.

For CES exhibitors, choosing the right local partner early can save you from unexpected costs, delays, and last-minute changes.
