King Salmon update: didn’t make it home last night 😅 had to reroute the Alaska way!

Got the repair jobs done up at the Wells Fargo, but getting home turned into a whole different project. Flight got grounded for maintenance, so I was either stuck there until Wednesday… or figure something else out.

So I jumped on a little bush plane (Grant Aviation) and made my way over to Dillingham for the night.

King Salmon and Dillingham are only about 70/80 miles apart across Bristol Bay, but out here, that’s still a flight.

I stayed there last night, and now I’m finally catching a flight home today. 🤞🏼

That’s just how it goes working in these remote spots, you don’t control the schedule, you just roll with it and make it work!

Headed out to King Salmon, AK, this morning for a job!

Now, for those who don’t know… there’s no hopping in the truck and cruising down the road to get there.
It’s about 280 miles from Anchorage, and the only way in is by plane.

That means my tools are packed tight, everything is double-checked… and still I managed to forget something... It was my watch, lol.
Because there’s no “quick run to Home Depot” out here...

A few things about King Salmon, AK:
• Gateway to Katmai National Park
• World-class fishing
• Small, remote… with a population around 300/400 people (give or take depending on the season)
• It’s not even an official city! It’s considered a census-designated place (CDP), which means it’s recognized for statistical purposes but doesn’t have its own local government.
• About as “real Alaska” as it gets!!

It takes a little more planning, a little more patience… and a whole lot of knowing what you’re doing before you even set foot on site.

But that’s the kind of work I like!
Different places. Different challenges. :)

I’ve been building for over 30 years, and I’ve spent the last 14+ working here in Alaska, where if you cut corners, it shows real quick!

I don’t run a big crew. It’s just me, doing the work the way it’s supposed to be done.

Most of what I get called for is:
• Remodels
• Custom projects
• Or fixing work someone else already got paid to mess up

I’m big on doing it right the first time, being straight with people, and not putting my name on anything I wouldn’t be proud of.
