Alaska Gasline Development Corporation

Alaska Gasline Development Corporation In operation since 2010, the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation is leading the Alaska LNG integrated natural gas infrastructure and export project.

AGDC is an independent corporation of the State of Alaska developing natural gas infrastructure to deliver affordable and reliable clean energy to Alaskans and US Pacific allies. Alaska holds America’s largest concentration of proven, conventional, but stranded gas supply. The project will move North Slope natural gas through the resource-rich center of Alaska so that Alaskans and others in the wo

rld will have access to clean and affordable energy. The Alaska LNG project is one of the important projects being built in the United States and will provide jobs and improve the trade balance with Asian countries. Alaska gave birth to the US-Japan LNG trade and now seeks to be the strategic supplier of LNG to the Asia-Pacific region. On May 19th, 2025, Head Consul Kiyohiko Hamada met with Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District’s Executive Director Cassidi Cameron and Program Manager Caitlin Coreson to discuss economic conditions on the Kenai Peninsula.

Discussions touched on various subjects: AKLNG and its impact on the Peninsula’s economy, various other energy projects and their potential impacts, and sector overviews of Kenai’s tourism, mariculture, and entrepreneurial workforce trends.

Kenai Peninsula encompasses a broad range of communities home to over 60,000 individuals and is home to 3 communities that share a Sister City relationship with counterparts in Japan. It also was home to the early LNG export facilities that shipped Cook Inlet natural gas to Japan from 1969 to 2011.

The Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage looks forward to the development of economic opportunities that will deepen the ties between Japan and Alaska.
