Elmendorf Amateur Radio Society

Elmendorf Amateur Radio Society The KL7AIR Call was first assigned to Hams on Elmendorf AFB back in 1948 and has been in continous use since.

The Elmendorf Amateur Radio Society (EARS) is the latest in a long series of
clubs that have been associated with KL7AIR since 1948. The current club EARS started in 1996 and
continues today in the ongoing effort to insure there will always be a working Military
Amateur Recreation Station on Elmendorf AFB. The KL7AIR Call was first assigned to Hams on Elmendorf AFB back in 1948
and has been in c

ontinous use since. Up until the Ninties the call was part
of the Military Affiliated Radio Service or MARS station. In addition to the Amateur Recreation Station the Club supports both ARES
and Army MARS as an Ancillary Station for the Army program. Makes sense today
as Elmendorf AFB and Ft Richardson Army Post have become
Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson or JBER

If you have been on our web page the past couple of days, you may have seen people working in the shack. It may also look a little messy right now but it will be worth it in the end. This weekend Mason and I (Woody) have been hard at work moving stuff around. Our plan is to rack mount the majority of the equipment. This will free up the desk and give it a cleaner look. Networking is still on going but a little slow right now. Here are a few picks that Mason took today. Let us know what you think.

Just a reminder we have our monthly meeting on Tuesday. With field day coming up, I would like to hear from the member on what you would like to see at field day. I am looking at making a fox in a box so we can do a fox hunt. I think this may be able to bring people out. I will also be sending some info to public affairs to see if we can get the word out. Hope to see you at the meeting.
