There’s something about this project that feels a little different.

Maybe it’s because the word home means something different to everyone. For some, it’s where you grew up. For others, it’s the people waiting for you at the end of the day. And for some, it’s simply having a place where you finally feel safe.

That’s what makes Safe Harbor’s new headquarters so meaningful to us.

Their mission is to walk alongside people as they find safety, healing and a way forward. And now, this beautiful space will be part of that journey for so many people who are looking for a place to begin again.

At J. Davis, we’ve always believed that what we do should have a purpose beyond the work itself. We’re grateful for opportunities to serve our community, to care for people, and to use the gifts God has given us in ways that bring honor to Him.

This project feels like one of those opportunities.

We’re proud of what stands here, but even more grateful for the conversations, the healing, the hope, and the feeling of “home” that will be created here for the people who walk through these doors.

We’re thankful we got to be a small part of that story.

By All Accounts: The J. Davis Intern Experience

Meet Ella Federle, one of our incredible summer interns!

At J. Davis, we're committed to investing in the next generation of construction professionals by providing meaningful, hands-on experiences that help bridge the gap between the classroom and the jobsite. Our internship program is designed to equip future graduates with the knowledge, mentorship, and confidence they'll carry into their careers.

This summer, Ella was a valued member of our Lower State team in Charleston, gaining hands-on experience and a firsthand look at the construction industry. We're so grateful for her hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn throughout the summer.

We love seeing where a little opportunity can lead.

John McKee first joined J. Davis as an intern while studying at Clemson University. After graduation, he made his way back home to Charleston, SC and joined our Lowerstate team full-time as a Project Engineer.

John’s story is exactly what we mean when we talk about growing our people. We’re proud to invest in our employees, create opportunities for them to learn and lead, and be part of their journey as they build careers they’re proud of.

Some buildings get a second life. Some give people the chance to start again.

We’re proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Safe Harbor’s new headquarters in downtown Greenville, a thoughtfully renovated textile mill now transformed into a place of safety, support and hope for survivors of domestic violence and their children.

We’re incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to give this space a new purpose and to be part of bringing Safe Harbor’s vision to life. Knowing the work that will happen within these walls — and the lives it will touch — makes this project especially meaningful to our team.

A new school year has begun and we’re proud to have recently completed the new River Road Bus Parking Lot & Facility on Johns Island.

Designed to support Charleston County School District 3’s transportation operations, the facility provides a dedicated holding area for school buses serving local students, along with a space for employees to gather, administrative offices, and a break room for staff.

More than a place to park buses, this new facility creates a functional home base for the people and operations that help keep students moving safely to and from school each day.

We’re grateful to have been part of this project and excited to see the new facility serving the County School District 3 community. Here’s to a safe, successful school year ahead!

A new school year brings new beginnings, new opportunities, and plenty of excitement ahead!
