Reimaging the supermarket: Novastore® powered by Alphabot®

Alert Innovation is solving the most challenging problem that self-service food retailers face today, which is how to move their businesses online profitably and at scale. The solution will be a new “automated-service” store format that we call Novastore®, in which the entire center store is replaced by an automated micro-fulfillment center powered by Alphabot®, a breakthrough automated each-picking technology that Alert is now bringing to market. All packaged goods are ordered by customers electronically and picked by the Alphabot system. Customers can order fresh goods electronically, too, but a self-service fresh market in the store also enables them to select their own fresh goods.

This store format will enable quantum improvements to both customer experience and store-operating economics, compared to any alternative multi-channel model. By doing so, and also by allowing retailers to leverage their existing store assets, Novastore will shift the food-retail paradigm from self-service to automated service. Alphabot is the only automation technology in existence that is capable of this extremely difficult application.
