Some contractors believe it's ok to apply tile directly to the moisture resistant drywall or cement board substrate. Why do we disagree?

Every shower or tub must have a waterproof membrane installed. Paint on waterproofing material is a minimum but not highly effective. We recommend, and install, Schluter systems because they stand behind their product. Grout, and some tile, is porous which means it can transfer that moisture to the substrate. This can cause mold to form, reduce the lifespan of your tile install, and cause structural damages.

Don't let your contractor cut corners!
