Our lead technician, Timothy Wienand, recently spent his vacation time giving back to the community! This marked his 9th trip to Starkville, MS through his alma mater, Rockford University. Each year, the university sends a group of students and alumni to partner with Habitat for Humanity as part of the “Collegiate Challenge,” where four schools over four weeks work together to build a home for a family in need. This year marks the 30th year Rockford University has participated in the program.
Typically, the group begins with just a concrete slab and, by the end of the week, has a roof on the home. Unfortunately, weather prevented concrete from being poured this year, delaying the start of a new house. However, Habitat for Humanity had another home already underway where the team was able to step in and install siding, insulation, paint, and complete other important work.
Over the years, Tim has helped build a dozen homes that now house more than 20 children and their families. Metro Concrete Scanning was proud to support Tim’s efforts by helping with his travel costs so he could continue being part of this incredible mission.
We’re grateful to have team members like Tim who are committed to giving back and making a difference!
