Vale Conference

Vale Conference Vale Conference hosts an annual conference the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Professionals in the industry come to our panels moderated by our students.

VALE Conference is a division of VALE MUSIC GROUP LLC, a student created and run organization of Lebanon Valley College.

The yearly fall semester VALE Media Industries ( formerly Music Industry) Conference is created and hosted by students of Lebanon Valley College. It traditionally takes place the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Practioners in the industry come from as far away as Canada, California, New York, Nashville, Florida, ETC. to share their skills and knowledge covering all aspects of the industry including recording, songwriting, law, publishing, management, marketing, video, radio, instrument repair, journalism, and more. Students moderate the panel discussions and introduce speakers. Notable speakers have included Shelly Yakus (engineer for John Lennon, Tom Petty, U2, etc), Anthony DeCurtis (Rolling Stone Magazine and author), Harry Dean aka DJQ-Ball (The Bloodhound Gang), Jeremy Hummel (co-founder of Breaking Benjamin), Nan Warshaw (CEO of Bloodshot Records), Martin Atkins (drummer/author Sex Pistols, Nine-inch Nails), and many more. With around 250-300 attendees, the event has become a magnet for anybody interested in the industry. Attendees ranging from high school students to industry veterans have the opportunity to meet and talk to industry professionals throughout the day. During lunch there is a performance by the VALE Records featured band. A yearly award, the Revy Award, is presented by the students to someone who they feel has contributed to and supported their efforts to learn about the industry. Past recipients include Paula Savastano (SSA Music Services), John Harris (The John Harris Group), and Rob Case (New Pants Publishing). The 2014 conference will be the 10th conference. The goal of this milestone conference is to bring LVC alumni back from all over the world to talk about their expereinces in the industry. A homecoming for former students who have found success in every area of the music industry.
