⚡ Size matters.

There. We said it.

And when it comes to electrical wiring, it matters more than most people realize.

The wire feeding your bedroom lights is not the same size as the wire feeding your stove.

Your lights may only need a small wire because they use a relatively small amount of power.

Your stove, water heater, A/C system, dryer, and other large appliances need much larger wire because they're pulling a lot more electricity.

Using wire that's too small for the job can cause overheating, nuisance breaker trips, damaged equipment, and in some cases, fire hazards.

A bigger breaker is NOT the solution.

In fact, putting a larger breaker on undersized wire is one of the fastest ways to create a dangerous situation because the breaker may not trip before the wire overheats.

That's why electricians don't just look at the appliance. We look at the wire size, breaker size, distance of the run, and electrical load to make sure everything works together safely.

So if you're adding equipment, replacing a circuit, or wondering if that wire is "big enough"...

Don't guess.

⚡ GFCI Keeps Tripping After Rain? Here's Why. ☔

Florida and electricity have a complicated relationship.

If your outdoor outlet suddenly stopped working after a rainstorm, sprinkler cycle, or somebody got a little too enthusiastic with the pressure washer... there's a good chance moisture found its way into the GFCI outlet.

A GFCI is designed to shut off power when it senses electricity going where it shouldn't. That's exactly what it's supposed to do.

Common causes:
✅ Rain blowing into outdoor outlets
✅ Worn or damaged outlet covers
✅ Sprinklers hitting outlets repeatedly
✅ Extension cords left plugged in outside
✅ Bugs, dirt, or moisture inside the box

Before calling for service:
• Unplug anything connected to the outlet
• Let it dry completely
• Press the RESET button

If it still won't reset, keeps tripping, or trips every time it rains, it's time to have it checked.

A nuisance trip is annoying.

A GFCI that doesn't work when it's supposed to is a safety issue.

TRUTHFUL TUESDAY!!!

⚠️ Is This Panel Hiding In Your House? ⚠️

If your home has a Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) panel, it's worth paying attention.

These panels have a long history of breakers that may fail to trip when they're supposed to. When that happens, circuits can overheat and create a potential fire hazard.

And here's something many homeowners don't realize:

Some insurance companies may refuse coverage, require replacement, or charge higher premiums when an FPE panel is present.

We've had customers discover the issue only after buying a home, refinancing, or shopping for insurance.

Not sure what panel you have?

We'll be happy to identify it for you.

Because finding out you have an FPE panel from your insurance company is a lot less fun than finding out from your electrician. 😬

Around here, everybody “knows a guy”

And somehow that guy always thinks:
• extension cords count as permanent wiring
• duct tape is weatherproof
• double-tapping breakers is “saving space”
• and if it sparks but still works… it’s probably fine 💀

Listen…
“Rigged” electrical work might save money today…

…but it can also:
• fry appliances
• burn up your panel
• void insurance claims
• or turn your attic into a Florida bonfire by July.

Electricity is one of those things that usually gives you ZERO warning before it goes bad.

No little check engine light.
No “hey buddy, I’m about to catch fire.”

Just:
⚡ pop
⚡ smoke
⚡ regret

If your electrical setup looks like somebody pieced it together with leftover parts, hope, and a YouTube video…
it may be time to let a licensed electrician take a peek 😭

We’ve seen some things out here, y’all. And honestly, some of it looked personally offensive to electricity itself.

Florida heat doesn’t just make you miserable.
It beats the absolute life out of your house too 😭

That nonstop heat and humidity can:

• Make your A/C run almost nonstop
• Raise electric bills faster than gas station prices
• Warp wood doors and cabinets
• Make garages feel like Satan’s crockpot
• Cause attic temperatures to hit 130°–150°
• Push humidity into places it doesn’t belong
• Stress older electrical systems
• Shorten the lifespan of your A/C system if it’s struggling already

And here’s the part people don’t realize:

Your house never really gets a break in Florida.

By the time your attic cools down at night…
the sun comes back outside acting disrespectful again by 9am ☀️😭

That’s why little things matter here:
✔ changing filters
✔ sealing air leaks
✔ checking insulation
✔ servicing your A/C before it’s hanging on by a thread

Because in Florida… your air conditioner isn’t a luxury.

It’s basically life support with Freon 😂
