To me it's irrelevant to the long-term viability of the shale industry to focus on those companies that don't make it because of taking on too much debt and not being able to service it if prices dropped. That would be no different than doing the same when so many banks got in trouble during the housing crisis. I didn't hear many declaring the best days of banking were behind us. Individual banks got swallowed up by healthier competitors, and the industry continued on.
