We’re excited to welcome our summer interns, Andrew McCarter and Max Quintana, to the DFS Construction team!

This summer, Andrew and Max will be supporting our Project Management teams across a variety of active projects, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to day-to-day operations, client coordination, and project ex*****on.

Andrew is currently pursuing a degree at the University of Connecticut School of Business and is eager to learn from the team while helping bring clients’ visions to life.

Max is studying Construction Management at the University of Florida. He’s excited to explore different pathways within the construction industry while supporting multiple project teams this summer.

We’re thrilled to have them on board and look forward to seeing all they accomplish this summer at DFS!

Recently completed and ready for the future of higher education advocacy! DFS Construction was proud to deliver the new headquarters for the American Association of State Colleges & Universities (AASCU) in Washington, DC.

The renovation transformed the space into a modern environment featuring open collaboration areas, private offices, conference rooms, and a welcoming staff lounge designed to support connection and productivity. Custom millwork, full-height glass fronts, warm wood tones, and integrated acoustic elements helped create a polished, hospitality-driven experience throughout the office.

The team is making major progress at Social Supply with the er****on of the exterior structural steel that will support the project’s new event space addition, seamlessly connecting the expansion to the existing structure.

This phase represents a significant milestone as the new framework begins to define the scale and presence of the future gathering space. Coordination, precision, and safety remain at the forefront as crews continue transforming the vision into reality. DFS Construction recently completed a transformative rooftop repositioning project at the McPherson Building that turned underutilized roof space into a premium indoor/outdoor amenity environment overlooking downtown Washington, DC. The project features a sleek new penthouse addition with conferencing and collaboration space and a hospitality-inspired rooftop terrace designed to elevate the tenant experience while increasing the long-term value and marketability of the asset.

What makes this repositioning especially impactful is its flexibility. While created for a specific tenant, the investment extends far beyond a single lease term. It provides ownership with a future-ready amenity that can continue serving as a shared conferencing center, rooftop gathering space, or differentiating feature for future tenants in an increasingly competitive office market.

Behind the scenes at 1900 M St. NW, our team is tackling extensive structural and slab repairs to restore the fourth floor back to its original structural design intent. Following the removal of an existing interconnecting stair, DFS is completing a new concrete slab infill designed to restore the floor plate seamlessly and match the existing structural system.

From detailed rebar placement and slab reinforcement to extensive shoring and structural support, this phase of work highlights the precision and coordination required to safely execute structural modifications in an occupied downtown office environment. Projects like this are a reminder that some of the most important work on a project happens beneath the surface.

Great day on the course at yesterday’s CREBA Golf Outing ⛳️

Perfect weather, strong swings, and great conversations made for a fantastic time connecting with clients and industry partners out on the greens. Events like this are always a great reminder of how valuable it is to build relationships beyond the jobsite.
