Since cold weather has made an early entrance this year, there are things to be considered before seal coating in cooler weather. First the emulsion does not set properly unless there is enough heat, sunlight or both. So no matter how long you let the material cure it may not give you the life you expect. I prefer 60 degrees and rising with sunlight. Second, beware of areas on the north side of buildings that are shady. In the winter the sun is farther south making more "north side shade". When the wind is out of the south these areas will sometimes not dry because there is an absence of wind and sun. Also humidity will form in these areas causing the seal coat to not be able to dry even on a nice day. When seal coating an area that has north side shade you really need a north wind. And a north wind usually brings in colder temps. So this is a very tricky seal coat and needs very close timing with the weather.
