That badge exists because Google, the DOE, and ENERGY STAR partnered with NATE to flag contractors who staff certified technicians and follow ENERGY STAR-aligned practices. The refrigerant transition is not something contractors can put off.

EPA restrictions are moving the industry toward lower GWP options in new air conditioning and heat pump equipment. That means technicians need more than experience with older R 410A systems. They also need current knowledge of new refrigerants, equipment requirements, and safety procedures.
