Friends and Family,

Reflecting on the meaning of Christmas is different this year than in the past. So much has changed in WNC. So much devastation, loss, and so many people hurting physically, emotionally or both! However, through it all I’ve seen from the beginning of this destruction, God’s paintbrush swiped from top to bottom all over WNC. People coming together from different backgrounds to lend a hand and help each other. Love, I am talking about true agape love, I have witnessed in places I would have never imaged. This, my friends, makes my heart swell with joy! It is the love of God that I have seen through the people that makes me the most thankful this year! Things may come and things may go, but love will always be something everyone can give. It is the ultimate gift of all and the most to be thankful for. Of course, God first showed His love by giving His one and only son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. If you are one of the ones, like most in WNC, who are still hurting, please know you are loved and we continue to pray for you all and that God is with you. He will never forsake you, turn to Him by just praying. If you have never prayed before just start talking to Him…it is not hard and you do not need a script…Dear God, I need help, I need you…ask Him whatever is on your heart. He says if we do not ask we will not receive. Does He answer all of our prayers, no, however He knows what is best for us in the bigger picture. Trust in Him and give your life to Him! So to sum up Christmas….I am thankful for the gift of Love!❤️

By the way this is, and always has been, the staple of our company- Love. Go and ask any employee they will tell you the same. Without love you have nothing. It just shines a little brighter this Christmas Day!

Many thanks to all who have served! We wouldn’t be the great nation we are without each one of you!

Barnardsville Friends and Family…..

This is to address questions about us not being in Barnardsville. We came in BEFORE the storm as requested by Barnardsville Fire Department to assist in keeping roadways cleared with the hurricane that was supposed to hit. We did that and stayed the night out there. We had equipment at the head of Dillingham and some of our men got trapped in that area when the flash flood came. Our men in there started working without us knowing (as we had no contact with them for at least 1 1/2 days) to get a road out for residents in order to save lives. On the other end of Dillingham we were trying to get enough cell service by driving to contact our crews out of state to bring more equipment in. Our crews had to discern how to get in the area safely as flooding happened on major Interstates. They made it by driving into the night and got there at 1:00 AM Sunday morning and went home to get a few hours of sleep and went back to work on Sunday morning at 7:00 to move equipment in and begin at the bottom of Dillingham.

We were only thinking about the people there and to save people’s lives. NCDOT showed up in tears on Monday (I believe) and were grateful that we had been working. They told us to carry on and by this past Wednesday we had a 2-lane road built back all the way up Dillingham and Stoney Fork. So we got the roads to where they are passable. One crew had actually worked up Poverty Branch as well to get it cleared out as well.

This is called Phase 1. It was finished. A road is in so all residents can get in and out. We helped so people can help themselves and others can get to them to help. This includes the electric company to be able to come in and get power back on and many donations that have been brought in. There is a lot more than needs to be in Barnardsville and we know that. However, NCDOT wants us to move to other communities to help save other lives. We are on Reems Creek right now working on the road so the water supply that goes to 10,000 people can be restored. We are also in Yancey County helping the road to the dump get cleaned so they can actually have a dump to take things to as that is completely shut down. Right now it’s still about saving lives. We want to be in Barnardsville of course because it is home and we have many friends and family there, but we do need to help save as many peoples lives as possible. We love each and everyone and we wish we could be everywhere!

Barnardsville has a strong group of people that we believe in! We may be back to do some additional work, but we are not sure at this time.

Again we love each and every one of you!

We are so thankful for Trinity Baptist Church and Piney Mountain Baptist Church - PMBC for feeding us so we can continue to work each day! We have worked a lot of hurricanes but I can say the WNC church communities are amazing - we have never seen anything like it! Again, thank each one of you!
