The first phase is complete at the Oliver Hill Building in Richmond, VA!
This project was especially fun for me because our client gave me the opportunity to design the space from the ground up—including the carpet, base, and paint selections.
We worked with a range of cool grays to give the space a more modern, elevated feel while keeping everything cohesive throughout the building. For the flooring, we installed approximately 400 SY of Milliken Trimline carpet tile with attached cushion backing.
Like many renovation projects, this one came with a surprise once we got into the existing conditions. The wood substrate underneath was not suitable for the new flooring, so our team pivoted and installed new underlayment throughout the space to create a proper substrate before moving forward with the carpet installation.
This is just one phase of a larger, multi-phase project to update the entire building, and it’s exciting to see the transformation start to take shape.
One of my favorite parts of what we do at Happy Co Floors is finding the balance between design and the technical side of flooring—creating spaces that look great while making sure everything underneath is done right, too.
