This past Saturday, we had the 26th annual company clam bake! Our employees were able to take a break from the machining, step away from the shop, and enjoy some good food as a team. We are thankful for the hard work our team puts in throughout the year, and the clam bake is a great way to spend time with our current and retired employees.

Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and make it a great day! Special thanks to K&M Graphics for the shirts and Hil-mak Seafood for the clam bakes.

From Concept to Completion: Drilling & Tapping ⚙️

As we get closer to the final stages of the mold, our team begins drilling and tapping mounting holes needed for assembly and operation. Each hole needs to be precisely located and machined for everything to go smoothly when it is assembled.

With the major machining complete, we can now focus on the details that will bring this mold together. The final stages require just as much attention to detail as the previous stages. Although we are getting close to completion, there are still several important phases left before this tool leaves the shop.

⚙️Capability Spotlight: 50-ton press⚙️

Having the 50-ton try out press with an 8' X 10' bed and a hydraulic rolling shuttle allows us to confirm the mold is properly aligned and has the proper clearance around the edge of part before it leaves our shop. A mold can visually look perfect, but the press answers:
"How is it going to perform under pressure?"

We use multiple checklists and perform several tests while a mold is in the press. As seen in these pictures, we are checking the alignment of the mold to determine if additional adjustments need to be made to the tooling.

This is another step in our process that puts quality to the test. By testing the tooling here in our shop, we can feel confident in the mold's ability to produce quality parts when it reaches production.

Today we celebrated Labor Day with pizza from Capo's Pizza - Ashtabula and wings from Luigi's Pizzeria. We wanted to take the time to thank our employees for all of the hard work they do for the shop. Here is a mold that we have been working on this week.
