A few months ago, John Curran was invited to appear on The Knife Ju**ie Podcast. Episode 654 is available online, along with a brief bio and recap:

Fast-forward to our return from an incredible Blade Show, and we received a website order from a gentleman in Huntsville, Alabama, who had just watched John's interview with Bob DeMarco. His order note read:

"I liked what I saw and heard and want to support fellow knife guys."

To quote Bob's recap of the interview:

"What I appreciate about John is his honesty about the work. He discusses the pursuit of perfection, even though he knows he will never reach it. He scraps parts every day when they do not meet his standards. That attention to detail shows in every knife he builds."

And later:

"This is the kind of maker worth supporting. Small shop. Quality work. Real passion for the craft."

As a small maker, there is no better compliment than having your work and philosophy resonate with someone you've never met.

Bites Like an Axe, Carves Like a Scalpel: Why the Scandi is the Ultimate Working Grind

It’s hard to put into words what the “world’s largest knife show”is really like.

People line up and camp out the night before. When the doors open, the crowd surges in. It’s a nonstop blur of conversations with people from every corner of the world—collectors, makers, dealers, first-time buyers, and lifelong enthusiasts.

It’s exhausting. It’s loud. It’s overwhelming at times. And it’s one of the highlights of our year. From the parking lot to the porte cochere to “the pit”, the show goes on well outside of its official show hours.

What continues to stand out most, though, is the people. The knife community is filled with genuinely good folks who are willing to share knowledge, lend a hand, and help each other succeed. In an industry where you might expect competition, what we’ve found instead is camaraderie.

I’m sure I speak for John as well when I say that we’re grateful to be a small part of it.

And, I’m thankful to all the great guys and gals willing to be “branded” for a couple days with our 80s camo carbon temporary tattoos and stickers, regardless of their own brand identity! 😉

Retired an old iPad that hasn’t worked for s**t in a long time and let off a little steam.
