1️⃣ Choose your grill first: The grill should be selected before templating the countertops.
Why? Because we need the exact grill specifications to create the cutout correctly. The gas line should also be in place before we take final measurements.

2️⃣ Decide whether you want a sink: A sink isn’t mandatory, but it can make an outdoor kitchen much more functional.
If you choose to include one, the sink location and plumbing need to be planned before the countertops are measured and fabricated. It’s a small detail that can have a big impact on how you use the space.

3️⃣ The right countertop material: Choose a stone that can handle weather exposure and requires low maintenance.
Not every beautiful stone is the right choice for an outdoor area. Sun, rain, temperature changes, and daily use should all be considered during material selection.

4️⃣ Storage: You’ll thank yourself later.
Having storage near the grill makes hosting much more enjoyable. Keep utensils, serving trays, seasonings, paper towels, and outdoor essentials within reach instead of constantly running back and forth to the main kitchen.

5️⃣ Comfortable seating: Great spaces are meant to be enjoyed.
Choose furniture that welcomes people to stay longer while still allowing comfortable circulation throughout the area. A beautiful outdoor kitchen only works when people actually want to gather around it.

6️⃣ Warm lighting: It completely transforms the atmosphere after sunset.
Warm lighting creates a cozy and intentional environment, making the space feel inviting long after dinner is over. In many cases, lighting has more impact than additional decor.

7️⃣ Plants & greenery: Plants bring life, softness, and balance to outdoor spaces.
They help connect the built environment to nature and make the area feel welcoming even when you’re not entertaining guests.

A beautiful outdoor kitchen isn’t just about the grill or the countertop. It’s about creating a space people actually want to spend time in, at any time of the year!

1️⃣ The cutout isn’t always made before installation.
Why? Keeping the counter intact during transportation and handling helps preserve its structural integrity and reduces the risk of cracks.

2️⃣ This stone didn’t naturally look this dark.
We applied an enhancer to enrich the color and bring out the depth and movement of the material. A honed Negresco granite typically has a deep charcoal-gray appearance, and the enhancer helps achieve this richer black finish.

3️⃣ Quartzite isn’t usually my first choice for outdoor kitchens.
While some quartzites perform well outdoors, many require more maintenance over time. Lighter quartzites, in particular, tend to absorb more water than darker materials, due to the mineral composition.

For outdoor projects, I often lean toward granite because it offers durability, low maintenance, and long-term performance.

4️⃣ I usually prefer honed or leathered finishes for outdoor spaces.
Polished surfaces tend to show dirt, water spots, and everyday wear more easily, especially in areas exposed to weather and open environments.

I also believe honed and leathered finishes feel more natural outdoors. They complement the landscape, while polished surfaces often bring an indoor look to an outdoor space.
