One standout creation that has emerged from the marriage of 3D printing and D&D is the custom dice tower. Dice towers offer a practical and elegant solution to an age-old gaming conundrum: how to roll dice fairly and consistently without them careening off the table or disrupting meticulously arranged battle maps. These towers come in a plethora of designs, ranging from medieval castles to towering wizards, each capturing the essence of the game’s fantasy world.
The basic mechanism of a dice tower involves dropping dice into the tower’s top entrance. The dice then travel through a series of internal ramps, tumbles, and bounces before emerging from the tower’s bottom opening, displaying their results. Beyond their utilitarian function, these towers have become works of art, with players customizing them to reflect their characters, campaign settings, and personal preferences.
