The hard part of lab data isn't writing it down. It's everything that comes after: files pile up on a shared drive, instrument output stays locked in vendor software, and the dashboard the PI wants has to be rebuilt by hand from three separate exports.

ELabELN Suite puts all of it on one platform. The notebook, the files and datasets behind it, the instrument data captured at the source, and the dashboards that read across everything, connected so any result traces back to where it came from. One platform, unlimited users, cloud or on-premises.

Take a look at how the four pieces fit together: https://www.elabeln.com/suite/

When every ELN login has a price, labs start rationing logins. Someone hands their notes to a person who already has a seat. Someone keeps a side spreadsheet. Someone just remembers it. None of it feels like a problem in the moment, and all of it puts part of the lab's record outside the notebook that was supposed to hold everything.

That's the hidden cost of per-seat pricing, and it has very little to do with the number on the invoice.

New article works through per-seat vs unlimited for research labs: where each one fits, why transient teams feel it most, and three questions that usually settle which model you need.

Most decisions about an electronic lab notebook eventually arrive at a meeting nobody enjoys: the one where a lab works out who actually gets a license. The PI, obviously. The senior postdocs, yes. The two staff scientists, fine. Then the list gets harder. The rotating graduate students who cycle th...

A research lab in September: 12 people in the group. By February: 9 people. By June: 14, including two rotating students and a visiting researcher.

Per-seat ELN pricing turns lab membership into a billing problem. The new LabLynx ELN pricing removes the per-seat math entirely: unlimited users are included, with reduced rates for academic research labs.

Take a look at the new plans:

Quick question for anyone running a research lab: how much of your experimental record lives in paper notebooks, shared drives, and spreadsheets that one person on the team fully understands?

If the answer is "more than we'd like," the new LabLynx video is worth six minutes. It walks through the LabLynx ELN as a standalone electronic lab notebook and, for labs that want more, as a platform with additional applications (inventory, scheduling, instrument integration, and others). The argument is built around academic and university research labs specifically, with pricing tiers for both.

A2LA's Top 10 deficiencies. ANAB's 548 nonconformities from 543 assessments in 2025. Two published datasets, one pattern: five clauses keep showing up at reassessment after reassessment.

Our new whitepaper breaks down exactly which findings recur, why paper and spreadsheet workflows can't produce the evidence assessors are asking for, and what changes when a modern LIMS sits behind the work.

4 pages. Free download. Worth the 10 minutes before your next audit.

70% of scientists say they can't reproduce another researcher's results.

It's rarely fraud. It's almost always documentation.

Methods missing critical details. Data scattered across notebooks, instruments, and spreadsheets. Knowledge walking out the door when grad students and postdocs move on.

Funders are paying attention. NIH is exploring how to reward researchers who make replication easier. Horizon Europe now requires FAIR data management across all funded projects. Nearly a quarter of major U.S. research institutions have already rolled out enterprise ELN licenses.

Our new white paper breaks down the five documentation failures driving the reproducibility crisis, and what labs can do about it before the next grant cycle.

It is March, so we did what any lab informatics company would do. We built a bracket.

16 of the most common lab pain points. Four regions. One champion. We wrote a full scouting report on every matchup and built an interactive bracket so you can click through and pick your own winners.

Manual Data Entry is the 1-seed. Data Silos grabbed the 2. Who makes your Final Four?

Fill out your bracket: https://www.lablynx.com/resources/articles/lims-madness-bracket/

16 lab challenges go head-to-head in a single-elimination bracket. From manual data entry to data silos, see the scouting report and pick your winners.

"AI sounds great, but we can't justify the investment right now."

We hear this from lab executives constantly. Meanwhile, those same labs absorb six figures in preventable waste every year from manual errors, reactive compliance prep, and maintenance on instruments that don't need it.

We wrote "The AI-Ready Laboratory" for decision-makers who need hard numbers before they approve anything. Payback period calculations, industry benchmarks, and a practical roadmap from evaluation to ex*****on.

The download is free. The cost of waiting is not.

Discover how labs use AI and modern LIMS to reduce errors, automate compliance, and scale without adding staff. Includes ROI models and a phased roadmap.

Last week we explored how AI agents are transforming laboratory operations, automating sample routing, inventory management, and quality control with 30–70% efficiency gains across key functions.

But here's what no one wants to talk about: the same autonomous capabilities that make AI agents valuable also make them dangerous if compromised.

This isn't theoretical. Consider the differences:

A human user authenticates once per shift. An AI agent authenticates hundreds, sometimes thousands, of times per day across your LIMS, instrument interfaces, vendor APIs, and purchasing systems.

A human accesses a handful of systems. An AI agent connects to everything it's integrated with, giving attackers a single point of entry to your entire infrastructure.

A human operates at human speed. A compromised AI agent can exfiltrate databases, modify thousands of records, or corrupt workflows in minutes. Your security team won't even get an alert before the damage is done.

Traditional laboratory cybersecurity was built for humans clicking through interfaces. AI agents break every assumption it was designed around.

The real-world attack scenarios are sobering:
→ Inventory agents manipulated to place excessive orders or halt critical supply replenishment
→ QC agents silently adjusting acceptance criteria, degrading result quality over months
→ Sample routing agents misdirecting STAT samples through routine queues
→ Compromised credentials providing persistent, undetected access across all connected systems

Every one of these looks like an operational problem, not a security breach. That's what makes them so dangerous.

Laboratories deploying AI agents need security architectures specifically designed for autonomous systems: zero trust frameworks, behavioral anomaly detection, immutable audit trails, and granular least-privilege access controls that go far beyond traditional IT security.

We published the full breakdown. Specific attack scenarios, what makes agent security fundamentally different, and how to build infrastructure that enables autonomous operations without creating unacceptable risk.

If you read Part 1 on what AI agents can do for your lab, Part 2 is the essential counterpart: what it takes to deploy them safely.
