This robotic system removes and blends parting lines on cast iron cookware in a 45 second finishing sequence.

A FANUC America Corporation Foundry Pro M710iC/50 uses 3D vision and a Magswitch Technology gripper to pick each casting directly from the conveyor.

The robot moves through two finishing operations:
• Rough material removal using a diamond cut off wheel
• Final blending on an Acme engineered abrasive belt head

This is a perfect robotic material removal example, turning a difficult manual operation into a repeatable production process.

Robotic Flash Weld Grinding

At Charter Wire, operators manually ground welds with a 30-pound tool in one of the line's toughest ergonomic jobs.

Acme engineered a robotic material removal system around a FANUC America Corporation R-2000iC/270F to automate the process across multiple wire diameters.

The result: improved grind quality, eliminated rework, reduced scrap, and more production capacity.

Acme Manufacturing began working with FANUC America Corporation in 1986, making 2026 the 40th year of our partnership.

Robotic material removal has changed a lot since then, but the fundamentals have not.

A robot by itself does not solve the process.

The application still depends on the right tooling, the right process parameters, and a system designed to run reliably in production.

As a Level 5 FANUC Authorized System Integrator, Acme combines FANUC robot technology with decades of experience in grinding, polishing, buffing, and deburring.

That experience helps us build systems around the process, not just the robot.

Forty years later, that is still our focus.

This year, we brought robotic material removal technology across the IMTS show floor, from heavy stock removal to precision aerospace finishing.

In our booth, attendees saw our FANUC America Corporation M-900iB/700 with dual Acme-engineered abrasive belt grinding heads, the new Acme FinishFLX, and a FANUC Force Control demonstration.

Acme technology was also running with two of our abrasive partners:
• Weiler Abrasives with a compact robotic system for jet engine blade root and platform deburring
• Norton Abrasives with adaptive HPC and HPT blade repair, plus RAZORStar showing heavy stock removal.
