Our team played a role on The Downs, a new mixed-use neighborhood currently being developed in Downtown Northville, Michigan! The project follows the 2024 closure of Northville Downs, Michigan’s last remaining horse track. It was great celebrating the groundbreaking of the Waterford Community Center last week! After a lot of time and effort spent planning this project, it is exciting to see construction officially begin.

On Wednesday we celebrated the groundbreaking of the new 58,000 SF Waterford Community Center, a transformational project that will bring new life and new purpose to the former Highland Lakes campus of Oakland Community College.

This project is about more than a new building. It’s about creating a place where the Waterford community can connect, learn, gather, play, and grow—and transforming a familiar site into a vibrant community destination for generations to come.

Troy Michigan's first county park is expected to open in fall 2027! The new park is a rare ecological landscape, home to one of the highest concentrations of biodiversity in the region within a lakeplain prairie ecosystem, a rare habitat unique to the Great Lakes region. Today, less than 1% of this landscape still exists!

Turtle Woods provides inclusive recreational opportunities, strengthens connections to surrounding neighborhoods, and expands access to areas that were once limited. Visitors can explore a natural water feature, move along accessible boardwalks and pathways, or wander rustic trails that invite both physical activity and quiet restoration.

A years-long plan to transform a 70-acre nature preserve in Troy into the city’s first county park is moving forward.

This week, our interns and their mentors enjoyed one last summer outing at Topgolf! The group had some friendly competition, great food, and a fun time. We cannot believe the internship season is already coming to an end!

Alycia Soule and Emily Short from our Lansing office led a stormwater education outreach program for a local elementary school as part of the Hoskins Drain Improvement project, a current PEA Group project with the Ingham County Drain Commissioner (ICDC).

A portion of the drain is located on Bennett Woods Elementary property and will include special features to allow for safe passage of aquatic and semi-aquatic wildlife. Students learned about stormwater, the critters than can live in storm drains, and the Hoskins Drain’s "critter crossing culvert." The program also introduced students to Blanding's and Eastern Box Turtles, the threats these species face, and ways infrastructure and conservation efforts can help protect them.

The event also supported the Ingham County MS4 Program, another PEA Group Project, by helping ICDC fulfill public education and outreach requirements under its MS4 permit. Approximately 300 first through third grade students participated, making for a fun and educational day all around. Click through to see some photos from the school visit!

The PEA Group and ASTI Environmental | A Division of PEA Group team provided land surveying, geotechnical engineering, and ecological and environmental consulting services for a confidential client's gas transmission upgrade. The project involved replacing approximately 800 feet of pipeline for an existing gas transmission line upgrade through a wetland. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4yVVGq9
