The exterior is almost finished. Shortly, we will be backfilling around the addition with black dirt and planting grass seed. The customer will have a beautiful lawn in the spring.

Drywall has been completed and it’s ready for primer and paint. The floor is prepped for new beautiful vinyl plank.

Even though the posts have been few and far between, we have been moving along nicely on this addition!
After framing and getting the addition watertight came the “rough-in”. This is a very important step in the process that takes some planning and working together among multiple trades. We work with excellent contractors that make this process easy! The rough-in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC were completed. All inspections went perfectly.
All batt insulation has been installed. We will be adding cellulose blow-in on top of the R-39 ceiling batts to give the customer an efficient and warm R-60 ceiling insulation. The walls have R21 inside with an additional R-5 foam board on the exterior that also acts as a thermal break.

It has been a busy week, but the job is not done. Everyone has been doing a great job to get this addition’s roof watertight for the weekend.
Engineered trusses have been set. Rafters have been built out of 2x6 lumber to tie the addition roof/ trusses into the original house’s roof.
Fascia boards, roof and wall sheathing have been installed.
Drip edge, ice guard, and synthetic felt have been applied to help prevent leaks until the shingles and chimney flashing are delivered.
Next, we will be having that pesky electrical mast moved so it is out of the valley in the roof where all the water likes to flow.
Stayed tuned for house wrap, exterior foam board, soffit/fascia, interior walls, the start of the windows, and creating the opening from original house into the addition.

The floor is framed starting with sill seal and 2x8 treated boards. Up next was a 28’- 2ply LVL Beam, 2x10x20 floor joists, and 3/4” T&G DryGuard OSB. Stay tuned as the walls are going on next.
