Aurubis is undertaking trailblazing work with a new recycling plant in the US. The company is building the first secondary smelter specializing in multimetal recycling in the US, thus making a targeted investment in expanding its own recycling business. In the future, a state-of-the-art plant in Augusta (Richmond County) in the state of Georgia will process about 90,000 t of complex recycling materials annually. The plant is a key contribution to Aurubis’ commitment to the circular economy and to the company’s goal of being carbon-neutral well before 2050. The plant should be commissioned in the first half of 2024

🎉 Celebrating Our United Way Early Bird Raffle Winners! 🎉

We’re excited to congratulate our Early Bird Raffle winners and recognize the amazing generosity of our employees!

By October 22, 35 employees had contributed an incredible $28,450 to support United Way of the CSRA. What a fantastic start to our campaign! ❤️

And we’re not finished yet!

Our campaign will continue through November 5, followed by our Final Raffle Drawing on November 6.

Learning it. Practicing it. Teaching it.

This week, 11 Aurubis Richmond employees are taking safety training to the next level during our LOTOV Train-the-Trainer course!

From October 20–22, participants are diving into the OSHA standard and Aurubis’ LOTOV program and processes, then putting that knowledge to the test through hands-on scenarios and role-playing exercises using our LOTOV Training System.

The goal? Build the knowledge and confidence our trainers need to help others understand one of our most important safety processes.

We’re proud of this group for stepping up, getting hands-on, and helping us continue to strengthen the safety culture at Aurubis Richmond!

An incredible view over Aurubis Richmond!

Early yesterday morning, October 13, the sky over Augusta put on quite a show!

At 6:33 a.m., a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station carrying NASA’s 35th commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station. The Dragon spacecraft is carrying more than 6,300 pounds of scientific investigations, supplies and hardware, including the final pair of International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays.

Although the launch took place hundreds of miles away in Florida, its spectacular glowing plume could be seen across parts of Georgia. The early-morning conditions created what is sometimes called a“space jellyfish,” when sunlight illuminates the rocket’s exhaust high in the atmosphere while it is still dark on the ground.

And what a view we had here in Augusta!

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Neshia Hamilton 🌟

Meet Neshia Hamilton, Quality & Sampling Team Lead at Aurubis Richmond!

In just two years, Neshia has grown from Sample Prep Operator to Quality Technician to Team Lead, an accomplishment that reflects her commitment to learning, taking initiative, and continuously improving.

Neshia helps ensure incoming materials are accurately assessed and sampled while supporting her team through training, problem-solving, and process improvements.

Outside of work, Neshia enjoys running, strength training, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Fun fact: she competed as a Division I track and field athlete at three different universities for five years! 🏃‍♀️

Her motto says it best:
“Keep learning, keep improving, and keep moving forward.”

On Tuesday, October 6, representatives from Aurubis Richmond and Augusta Technical College came together to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the new patio area outside Building 600 at the college.

Building 600 holds a special place in Aurubis Richmond’s history. During the initial construction of our Richmond plant, it served as a primary training hub for our growing team, hosting New Hire Orientation and many other training events during those important early days.

Now, an outdoor space that once featured an aging wooden bench and an empty corner has been transformed into a welcoming patio where students can relax, enjoy the outdoors, and take a break under a shady umbrella. The old bench has also been replaced with a new one proudly displaying the Aurubis Richmond logo.

The ribbon cutting was more than a celebration of a new patio. It was an opportunity to celebrate our partnership with Augusta Technical College and reflect on a place that played an important role in the beginning of Aurubis Richmond.

Here’s to strong partnerships, shared history, and creating spaces our community can enjoy!

Aurubis Richmond held our latest Lead & Feed sessions October 5–7, and the attendance and participation were fantastic! Our last session was so full we joked about it being economy seating!

Ana Payne and Sherrie Bishop guided our leaders through current performance review information and goal setting for the upcoming fiscal year, while Patrick Raley joined most of the sessions to discuss this year’s market increase and year-end bonus structure.

Our bi-monthly Lead & Feed sessions provide an important opportunity to keep our leaders connected through timely communication, continuous education, and networking across departments.

Thank you to everyone who participated, asked questions, shared perspectives, and helped make these sessions a success. Strong communication builds strong leaders, and strong leaders build strong teams!
