We want to take a moment to share something impoprtant that's happening right here in our community.
We've been working with Mr. Bean- an Augusta resident and Veteran - to help him make his home safer and more accessible. Over the last couple of years , his neurological condition has taken a serious toll. He spent more than six months in the hospital relearning how to walk ,and even now, getting around his own home is a daily challenge.
His bedroom and bathroom need major updates so he can move safely and so emergency responders can reach him quickly if something happens. Right now, the layout makes it nearly impossible to get a stretcher to him in an emergency. Part of the plan is to install atruim doors that will allow direct access from the driveway straight to his bedroom- something he truly needs for his safety and peace of mind.
Mr. Bean has been trying to take on this project himself for a long time , but as we all know, the financial burdens of a home remodel can become overwhelming and worrisome. This is a man who spent his life serving his country and giving back to Augusta area through the years of volunteer work. Now he's the one who needs a hand.
