We want to take a moment to welcome and recognize two solid additions to the Silicon Hills Mobile Mechanics team: Adan and Alex 👏🔧

These guys jumped in ready to work, learn, and represent the brand the right way, showing up professional, communicative, and focused on doing honest work for our customers across Austin and the surrounding areas.

Being a mobile mechanic isn’t easy. You’re dealing with heat, tight spaces, time pressure, and real people who need real help. Adan and Alex have both stepped up with the right attitude and work ethic, and we’re glad to have them on the road with us.

Customer: What kind of socket (or anything) will get this out..I can’t find out what it is. I’ve tried a “universal” socket, the hex bit, the triple square socket, t70(which was too small). It’s annoying because I need to replace the wheel bearing asap, and that screw is keeping me from getting that done.

Us: That’s an external Torx (E-Torx) bolt, not triple square, not hex. You need an E-socket, most likely E14 or E16 (sometimes E18 depending on the car).

Universal sockets just round these off, and a T70 won’t fit because that’s internal Torx, this is external.

👉 Hit it with:
E-Torx socket
Breaker bar
PB Blaster + a few taps with a hammer

If it’s stubborn, a little heat helps. You’re close, wrong socket, not wrong skill

Customer: "I can’t get the O2 sensor out. I can’t use heat or a special tool. I also somehow don’t have a 22m wrench either. I have an impact, breaker bar, and WD-40, rubber mallet, vice grips, and that’s about it. What can I do with what I have?"
