U.S. workers are increasingly embracing the concept of phased retirement, where they gradually decrease their working hours before moving into full retirement.

Yet these workers are forced by current law to make an all-or-nothing choice in claiming Social Security benefits: If they claim their benefits before the normal retirement age of 67, they are forced to accept lower payments for the rest of their lives.

Writing in The Hill, MIT Sloan senior lecturer Robert C. Pozen argues that Congress should adopt a more flexible system that better supports workers who want to gradually transition into retirement.

TAG presents: John Wolpert, Product Executive and Emerging Technology Innovation Advisor at TacitPath will speak about using new tools to solve age-old impediments to multiparty cooperation on Friday 26. Engineering, marketing, and support takes a highly aware, effective, and collaborative teams in these days of the sudden appearance of transformative IT (such as the Metaverse, Generative AI/Automatons, and Quantum Computing). IT startups are already behind in education on, development of and successes in these technologies and need, head-starts already made in big tech companies. There is a lot of catching up to do. Come to TAG's October 28th virtual meeting from 0800 to 0900 to hear UnaliWear’s CEO Jean Anne Booth tell how she determined that the “Aging” market needed a medical alert system that is not ugly and socially stigmatizing. She added a best-of-breed fall detection system that connected to emergency response agents 24/7/365. Since then the product, the Kanega Watch, has added more unique features including no need to ever remove it, learning the wearer’s movement to minimize false alerts, and working out of the box (i.e., no setup required).
