WGI is excited to attend Zweig ElevateAEC in Park City, Utah, on October 1st!

This year's theme, 'Uncharted,' captures where the AEC industry stands today: leading without a playbook, creating clarity without precedent, and moving forward with intention.

WGI will accept two 2026 Zweig Group Marketing Excellence Gold Awards at the event, earning top honors in the Event category for our 2025 YES Week internal campaign and in the Publication category for our 2025 Parking Structures Cost Outlook Whitepaper.

Both awards reflect the incredible contributions from associates across the company, from YES Week participation to the parking campaign centered around the whitepaper.

The Texas Transportation Commission has approved the Texas Department of Transportation's 2027 Unified Transportation Program, setting the state's 10-year plan for transportation πŸ›£οΈ project development through fiscal year 2036.

The $138 billion program includes about $95 billion for projects across Texas, with safety, congestion relief, and preserving the existing system named as priorities. Many of the projects sit on segments from TxDOT's 100 Most Congested Roadways list.

Project funding came in below last year's plan, and TxDOT has said the focus is advancing projects already in development. That puts more weight on early survey and utility information, where conflicts found late in design drive costly redesign.

WGI's geospatial and transportation teams in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio support agencies and private clients on that early project work, from design and right-of-way surveys through subsurface utility engineering.

The latest episode of the WGI Unleashed πŸŽ™οΈ Podcast is here, and this one starts with a 13-year-old detailing cars at his dad's mechanic shop.

We head over to our Austin office to sit down with Robby Vogel, PE, Director of Structural Engineering on WGI's Buildings team, to talk about growing up in Seguin, Texas, turning a Plan B at the University of Texas into a career in structural engineering, and the phone call that brought him to WGI.

You'll hear about the pitch that landed him his first design job, the stretch when he was designing two Home Depots a week, the uncanny ways his life mirrors a certain WGI leader's, and a hidden talent that has nothing to do with engineering.

It's a fun conversation about mentorship and a career built one connection at a time.

Downtown Jacksonville now runs the largest urban autonomous vehicle transit system in the country 🚍 and WGI is proud to have helped build it.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA)'s Ultimate Urban Circulator converts the aging 2.5-mile Skyway monorail into an autonomous transit network built to reach 10 miles. Phase 1 delivers three miles of the Bay Street Innovation Corridor with 12 new stations, an all-electric AV fleet, adaptive traffic signals, connected-vehicle technology, and a dedicated private 5G network.

As lead infrastructure designer and architect on the Vision 2 Reality team, WGI led corridor-wide transportation design and delivered the 18,798-square-foot Autonomous Innovation Center from the ground up, covering architecture, structural, civil, and MEP, plus every construction, building, and environmental permit.
