Hend Almatrouk is a Kuwaiti Architect and the CEO and co-founder of Studio Toggle. Almatrouk founded her firm with fellow Universität für Angewandte Kunst Graduate, Gijo Paul George, in 2011. Almatrouk and George established three pillars for their Studio: Architecture, Urbanism and Activism. There is a lot of research behind their projects, and they gather inspiration from a variety of mediums outside of architectural design. One of their sources of inspiration is nature itself, such as cellular systems, which are great examples of systems of organization that have been tailored to their environment.

Almatrouk and George want to avoid creating designs simply to satisfy their "designer’s ego.” Instead their focus is to create responsible and ethical architecture where they, as architects, act as facilitators in the process of creating thoughtful designs that work for the communities they serve. Almatrouk has gotten to witness the growth of the firm, from her and George working long hours out of a café, to their 12-person team, opening up 2 global offices, in Kuwait City and Porto.

We just completed a site visit to our stunning mid-century modern home in Meadow Mountain. Although the AC unit is not yet installed, the insulation is in place and already proving its worth! In Texas, where reliable cooling is essential, proper insulation is crucial for sustainability and cost-effectiveness. These are just a few aspects architects and builders consider when constructing your dream home.

Here is a first look at our new build, Twin Oaks, in the Allandale neighborhood. The progress on the framing is allowing us to see the views that are captured by this home, and the butterfly roof is starting to take form. Lina Ghotmeh is a Lebanese architect and the founder of, Lina Ghotmeh — Architecture in Paris in the 11th arrondissement. Her firm is based in Paris, but her projects range internationally to places such as, Italy, Japan, Denmark & Ukraine. Ghotmeh is known for creating sustainable designs that blend innovative materials with traditional building techniques, informed by historical and environmental research. Lina has always had a love for history, so much so that at first she wanted to become an archeologist. Nowadays, Ghotmeh often describes her work as “Archaeology of the Future,” with her designs aiming to bring people, environments, and cultures, together.

This charming Riverside ADU is now clad with board and batten, to match the accent material update on the main house! This job included an interior remodel as well - we're looking forward to sharing more as the project wraps up!

Our Interior Designer, Sarah Wigfield, volunteers for her local community as a part of the Sunset Canyon Landowners Association. As a member on the board she participates in monthly meetings, where they plan events as well as find solutions to local issues. Sarah also volunteers as a writer for their monthly newsletter, which brings updates to the community. Every year Sarah and the LOA plan a “national night out” for people living and/or serving the community to get a chance to meet and greet.
