πŸ‘‹ Meet the Team Thursday!

This week, we're featuring Andy, our Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, who has been part of the Columbia Gear team for 23 years.

As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Andy supports the manufacturing process with a focus on John Deere assembly, reverse engineering for customers, and providing administrative support as needed. His work helps ensure projects move efficiently from concept to production while meeting customer needs.

One thing many people may not know about Andy is that he's the oldest of five brothers. Outside of work, he stays busy farming, helping support his wife's horse-riding hobby, making hay, performing mechanical work, and maintaining the farm.
When it comes to Minnesota seasons, Andy's favorite is spring. He enjoys seeing everything start fresh and watching the landscape come back to life after winter.

His advice for anyone interested in engineering:
πŸ’¬ "Take courses like chemistry, math, and public speaking while you're young. Those skills provide a strong foundation and are used every day in engineering."

Fun fact: Andy is a coffee enthusiast and says it's "coffee all day, every day." If he could instantly learn any skill, he would choose to learn a new language to better communicate with the international customers and partners he works with throughout his career.

Thank you, Andy, for your 23 years of dedication, expertise, and contributions to Columbia Gear!

πŸ‘‹ Meet the Team Tuesday!

This week, we're introducing Dennis, our Vice President of Engineering & Quality, who has been an important part of the Columbia Gear team for over 19 years.

Dennis works closely with both customers and employees to ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish. His typical day involves collaborating with teams on the production floor, supporting customers, solving challenges, and helping keep operations moving forward.

What Dennis enjoys most about his role is the opportunity to work with people both inside and outside of the company. Building strong relationships and working together to find solutions is what makes each day rewarding.

Outside of work, Dennis enjoys golfing, working on cars, and woodworking. When asked about his favorite Minnesota season, his answer was simple: all of them! He appreciates what each season has to offer.

Dennis' advice for anyone considering a career in manufacturing:
πŸ’¬ "Manufacturing can be very rewarding. Keep an open mind, and be willing to listen and learn from others."

Fun fact: If Dennis could instantly learn any skill, he'd choose to play the guitar.

Thank you, Dennis, for your leadership, dedication, and nearly two decades of contributions to Columbia Gear!

πŸ“– From the Archives | 1994

Let's take a trip back more than 30 years!

These photos from a 1994 Columbia Gear newsletter feature employees alongside two newly purchased machines.. A Fellow 36" Tiltbed Shaper and a Pratt & Whitney 12-60 Turning Machine. At the time, these additions represented Columbia Gear's continued investment in advanced manufacturing and our commitment to delivering quality products.

While the equipment has evolved over the years, one thing has remained the same. Our dedication to innovation, precision, and the people who make it all possible.

πŸ‘€ Do you recognize anyone in these photos or remember working with these machines? We'd love to hear your memories! Share them in the comments below.

This is just one chapter in Columbia Gear's story, and we look forward to sharing more "From the Archives" moments with you!

πŸ‘‹ Meet the Team Tuesday!
This week, we're featuring Jody, our Shipping Coordinator, who has been a valued member of the Columbia Gear team for an incredible 37Β½ years.
As Shipping Coordinator, Jody's responsibilities include issuing parts, performing inventory checks, receiving materials, pulling and putting away parts, and assisting with billing. Her work plays an important role in keeping materials moving efficiently throughout the facility and supporting daily operations.
What Jody enjoys most about her job is the variety it offers. No two days are exactly alike, and she appreciates having an active role that keeps her engaged throughout the day rather than sitting at a computer all day.
When asked about her favorite Minnesota season, Jody chose spring. She enjoys watching everything come back to life after winter and seeing nature begin to bloom again.
Outside of work, Jody enjoys biking and staying active. One thing many people may not know about her is that she dreams of traveling to Ireland someday.
Her advice for anyone starting their career:
πŸ’¬ "Pursue a career that truly interests you."
Fun fact: Jody is a big water drinker, but if she had to choose between coffee and energy drinks, she'd pick coffee. If she could instantly learn any skill, she would choose something in the medical field because she finds it fascinating and enjoys helping others.
Thank you, Jody, for your 37Β½ years of dedication, hard work, and commitment to Columbia Gear!
