A view of the new Eagle County Government Geothermal project in progress: 66 boreholes at just over 500 feet deep will provide heating and cooling for the Eagle County buildings using a new network of high-efficiency heat pumps to transfer energy to and from the ground where it is a constant 55 degrees. The system transfers heat into the buildings in winter and out of the buildings in the summer months. The system will reduce carbon emissions in the form of green house gases by an average of 136 metric tons per year, making it a Net-Zero carbon campus.
