Thinking about installing an EV charger at home? ⚡🚗

One of the first things we look at isn’t actually the charger — it’s your electrical panel.

A Level 2 charger can add a substantial continuous electrical load to a home. That means we need to look at the existing service, panel capacity and other loads in the house before deciding how the charger should be installed.

Sometimes the existing system has plenty of capacity. Other homes may need a different charging configuration or an electrical upgrade first.

We’ve been doing more EV charger work around the Bakersfield area lately, so we’re curious: Do you already charge an EV at home, or are you considering getting one?

Converting existing fluorescent fixtures to ballast-free LED lighting.

This retrofit eliminates the ballast, reduces future maintenance, and gives the customer a more efficient, reliable lighting setup—without replacing every fixture.

Zeus Electric completed 15 fixture conversions on this project, including warehouse, storage, restroom, and switchgear-room lighting.

Here’s one of the bigger projects we wrapped up last week. ⚡

What started as part of a home remodel turned into a pretty extensive electrical upgrade.

We updated the plugs and switches, rebuilt the kitchen electrical and added two circuits, installed new wafer and gimbal lighting, added provisions for a ceiling fan, completed the electrical portion of two bathroom remodels, installed a new smoke-alarm circuit and installed a pool panel.

Outside, we also repaired landscape and exterior receptacles, relocated sprinkler power into a weather-resistant enclosure, corrected issues at the flood lights and cleaned up old wiring left behind from previous pool equipment.

A lot of the best electrical work ends up hidden behind walls when the project is finished—which is why we enjoy showing what goes into these remodels.

Another phase of a project moving forward. ⚡

Last week, we continued our ongoing LED lighting upgrade at a Bakersfield medical facility.

One thing we enjoy about projects like this is seeing the facility improve section by section. Modern LED lighting can make a noticeable difference in the appearance and usability of a commercial space while also reducing the maintenance associated with older lighting.

We’re completing this project in stages and will keep documenting the transformation as it progresses.

Here’s one of the projects we wrapped up last week.

A homeowner wanted to install a small room air conditioner but didn’t have a circuit that could safely support the additional load. The existing breaker was already overloaded and continued to trip.

We installed a brand-new dedicated 20-amp circuit so the air conditioner could operate safely without overloading the home’s electrical system.

Sometimes the best solution isn’t replacing a breaker—it’s giving the equipment the dedicated power it was designed to have.

Out with the old, in with the new.

This week we continued converting a commercial second-floor building from fluorescent lighting to modern LED fixtures.

LED lighting provides better light quality, lower operating costs, and significantly reduces maintenance compared to older fluorescent systems.
