Our crew recently completed a retaining wall installation on the Sunset Ridge Trail in the Angeles National Forest.

Constructed in a narrow and challenging section of the trail, this improvement enhances visitor safety, stabilizes the hillside, and helps protect the trail from erosion. Projects like this play an important role in maintaining sustainable trail access while preserving the natural beauty of our public lands.

We are proud to support this effort in collaboration with the Mount Wilson Bicycling Association - MWBA and the U.S. Forest Service helping ensure that these treasured trails remain safe and accessible for future generations. 🌲⛰️🛠️

Great to be out on the Sunset Ridge Trail partnering up to strengthen the trail, improve safety, and keep the experience enjoyable for all who pass through. 🌊🌿

MWBA is working with Bellfree Contractors and the USFS to stabilize and widen the tread on a lower section of the Sunset Ridge Trail. This section of trail is narrow and prone to washing out. This work should decrease future wash outs and make the tread more comfortable for all trail users.
This work will continue for the next few weeks. Please slow down and use extra caution while navigating the trail.

Before ➝ After: Rubio Canyon, Trail Connector, Altadena 🌿

What was once a narrow, eroded, and less stable section of trail has been transformed into a safer, stronger, and more welcoming pathway.

Bellfree Contractors completed trail improvements in Rubio Canyon, Altadena, with support from Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy, focusing on long-term stability, accessibility, and user experience.

The project included the construction of sutter-style retaining walls, installation of timber-box steps, and maintenance, widening of the trail corridor. These improvements reduced erosion, increased safety, and enhanced the natural character of the trail while making it more enjoyable for the community.

We’re proud to contribute work that strengthens outdoor infrastructure and supports safe, sustainable access to nature.
