In honor of Earth Day on April 22, we are highlighting specialty design features that help to reduce a building’s impact on the environment. Two projects right here in Maryland, the Maryland Department of Transportation Headquarters and National Institute of Standards and Technology Gaithersburg Campus, have incorporated a number of sustainability initiatives in order to achieve LEED certifications by the USGBC. Colimore is fully committed to design that is both practical and responsible for the environment. Happy Earth Day!

Get your hardhats ready for a construction update on the Calvert County Library – Twin Beaches Branch! The project is gearing up for 3rd floor steel and concrete and will begin on the butterfly roof in March. Once complete, the library will include an open parking garage below the second floor, a third-floor terrace with views of the Chesapeake Bay (pictured in photo 3), and glulam timbers and curtain wall glazing that will create a light and airy environment, reflecting that of the surrounding natural site of Maryland’s lower Western Shore.

Coming Soon! Colimore is excited to share the final renderings of the new Middle River Recreation Activities Center. The design for this facility is inspired by the client’s local aviation history of the nearby Martin State Airport and Glenn L. Martin Aviation Museum. Construction of this Baltimore County project will begin next month.

Happy Pride Month, Baltimore! The Baltimore Pride Celebration is going on June 20-26 in person for the first time since 2019. Hosted by the Pride Center of Maryland, this week of festivities includes performances from local artists, contests and giveaways, food and drinks, and a Pride Parade on Saturday, June 25 on Charles Street. Check out Baltimore Pride for more details and information about the events going on all week!
