And just like that… summer internship season is a wrap! ☀️

We sent our summer interns off with a team luncheon, plenty of good food, and lots of appreciation for all they contributed this summer.

Wishing them the best of luck with the next semester!

From intern to full-time team member 👏

After interning with us over the past two summers, we're proud to welcome Corinne as our new landscape designer, part of the landscape architecture studio.

We're excited to continue growing together and can't wait to see the impact she will make for the communities we serve. Welcome back, Corinne!

New Contract Award! 🎉

We’re excited to kick off work on the Aisquith Housing project in Baltimore City!

MK will be providing site/civil engineering and landscape architecture services in support of this 50-unit affordable housing development, which includes the adaptive reuse of an existing historic building, a new building addition, on-site improvements, and public right-of-way enhancements along Aisquith Street and Orleans Street.

Projects like this are especially meaningful to our team. By bringing together affordable housing, thoughtful redevelopment, infrastructure improvements, and community-focused design, this project will help create new opportunities for Baltimore residents while reinvesting in an existing urban neighborhood.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Mission First Housing Group, Henson Development, PI.KL Architects, and the entire project team as we move this important project forward.

MK’s work will include site planning, stormwater management, utility coordination, permitting support, landscape design, and Public Works Developer

Agreement documents to help guide the project from design through construction.

We look forward to working together to create a project that will have a lasting positive impact on the community.

This summer marks one full year since students returned to a brand-new Furley Elementary School, and MK's commitment to the project is still very much alive.

What began as a feasibility study — prompted by structural issues that displaced students and staff — grew into a fully reimagined 97,600 SF school on a 6.8-acre site, complete with ADA-accessible circulation, stormwater management infrastructure, and native landscaping designed to work with Maryland's environment, not against it.

Now, post-construction, our team is working alongside BCPS and Baltimore City DPW to ensure those green spaces continue to perform. That means advising on MDE-approved native plant selections that naturally filter runoff, tolerate local moisture cycles, and support pollinators and wildlife — turning functional stormwater areas into living ecosystems.

And the best part? These bioretention spaces are becoming outdoor classrooms. MK's work with schools across Maryland, from Baltimore City to Prince George's County, reflects a shared belief that well-designed green infrastructure can be one of the most powerful teaching tools on a campus.

Infrastructure that educates. Green spaces that last. That's what good design looks like long after construction ends.

Strong communities are built one project at a time.

We're honored to have played a role in bringing the Nathaniel McFadden Learn and Play Park to life and to celebrate its official ribbon cutting. Projects like this remind us that civil engineering is about creating places that strengthen communities for generations to come more than just infrastructure.

Thank you to our partners for making this project possible!

Halfway through another Baltimore summer 🌞

MK Consulting Engineers is proud to have partnered with CannonDesign and Baltimore Recnparks on several community-focused pool projects across the city, including Greater Model Pool & Splash Pad, Walter P. Carter Pool, and City Springs Pool.

➡️ At Greater Model, we helped replace the existing pool with a new pool and splash pad, handling stormwater, utility coordination, and site design on a tight urban site.

➡️ At Walter P. Carter, we supported a new 6-lane, 25-meter lap pool and bathhouse from concept through construction.

➡️ At City Springs, we guided the pool replacement through site planning, permitting, and construction documents as part of the broader redevelopment.

These projects are about more than pools. They're spaces for neighborhoods to gather, kids to play, and families to cool off during Baltimore summers. Thankful to help bring them to life alongside the teams at CannonDesign and Baltimore Recnparks.

Here's to making the most of summer's second half! 🌞🏊
