You Know You’re Ready To Renovate When:
That temporary repair you made has officially become part of the house. 🤣
You know the one.
The piece of trim you’ve been meaning to replace.
The door you have to pull toward you while turning the k**b.
The cabinet held together by optimism.
And that little patch you made “just until we get around to fixing it.”
That was four years ago. At some point, temporary starts looking suspiciously permanent. 😂

*You don’t invite people into your *kitchen anymore.
*You prepare them for it.
*“Okay, that cabinet sticks.”
*“Don’t use that outlet.”
*“You have to lift the drawer a little before you pull it.”
*“And whatever you do…don’t lean against THAT.” 😳
At some point, those little things you’ve learned to live with become a pretty good indication that your kitchen has served its time. You don’t need another temporary fix. You need a kitchen that actually works for the way you live today!

MAINE HOMES HAVE A JOB TO DO!
They need a place for muddy boots.
Wet jackets.
Snow-covered gloves.
Dog leashes.
Work boots.
And approximately 47 things we’re apparently going to need before we leave the house. 😂

“I saw this on Pinterest!” Oh boy.
Here we go. 😂
Homeowners everywhere have uttered the sentence:
“So, I saw this picture online.” And suddenly we’re discussing: A 12-foot kitchen island. A hidden pantry.
Floor-to-ceiling windows. Custom built-ins. And a staircase that apparently belongs in a $20 million house in the Hamptons. 🤣
But here’s the thing…
We LOVE the ideas. Bring us the pictures. Bring us the screenshots.
Bring us the folder you’ve been secretly saving for three years. Because somewhere inside all those ideas is your home. Our job is figuring out how to build it.

“While you’re here…” There may be no four words more dangerous to a contractor. 🤣
“While you’re here, could you look at this door? What do you think about that wall? Would it be hard to add another windowAnd we’ve been thinking about the bathroom.”
Suddenly Bob the carpenter has been adopted by the family. 😂 But that’s part of working with an experienced contractor. Sometimes you don’t know what’s possible until you start asking questions.
So ask them! We’d rather help you think through the project correctly than have you spend the next five years saying:
“We should’ve done that when we had the chance.”

“It’s just a small project. ”Famous last words. 😂
“We just want to move this wall a little.”
Then comes…
“And maybe open up the kitchen.”
“And while you’re here, could we add some cabinets?” “Oh, and we’ve always hated this flooring.”
Three hours later, the “small project” has its own blueprint. 🤣 And you know what? That’s okay! Sometimes one idea leads to a much better one. Whether your project actually IS small or turns into something a little more ambitious, Nichols Construction can help you figure out the best way to make it happen!
