Mitch's journey with Merryweather began as an entry-level Factory Associate and Machine Operator. Through hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn, he grew into a Production Team Lead and now steps into his new role as Production Manager! 👏

We asked Mitch a few questions about his journey and what Merryweather means to him...

🔹 What advice would you give someone starting here as an entry-level position?

"My advice for anyone starting out would be to put your best foot forward. Showing that you have the willingness to learn and perform well is the best way to fast-track your growth at Merryweather."

🔹 What makes Merryweather Foam a special place to work?

"I find what makes Merryweather special in my eyes are the 8 core values that every employee should follow at the company. One such example would be 'Grace Over Guilt.' We work in production, and things are bound to go wrong. Nobody is singled out for one mistake they make. We just learn, grow, and move forward. No use crying over spilled milk."

🔹 What is your favorite quote or bible verse?

📖 Titus 3:1–5:

"Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit..."

Mitch's story is a great reminder that you don't have to start at the top to become a leader...you just have to be willing to show up, work hard, keep learning, and grow along the way.

We're proud of Mitch!! He has set a great example for others on our team and has put in hard work! We're excited to see him continue to grow and lead! 💪 🎉

A few weeks ago we had the chance to celebrate Kirk Armbruster and an incredible 47 years with Merryweather Foam.

Kirk started here in 1979. Think about that for a minute...47 years at one company.

Over that time, Kirk worked in a lot of different areas, helped train a lot of people, solved a lot of problems, and was just a steady part of Merryweather through a lot of change and growth.

We had a great time celebrating him! We were also able to surprise him with some really special recognition and a few gifts that fit Kirk pretty well.

Kirk, thank you for everything you gave to Merryweather Foam over the last 47 years. We are grateful for you and hope you enjoy every minute of retirement.

47 years for Kirk. 44 years for Lois. ❤️

When you stop and think about that, it’s pretty incredible! We are so grateful for both of them and all they’ve meant to Merryweather over the years.

After 47 incredible years at Merryweather Foam in Barberton, Kirk Armbruster is getting ready to retire! 🎉⛳

Kirk started at Merryweather in 1979, and this has been his first and only place of employment. Pretty incredible when you stop and think about that.

Over 47 years, Kirk has worked with a lot of people. He has trained people, helped people, solved a lot of problems, served our customers, and has been a huge part of Merryweather and our history here in Barberton.

At this point, we think it is fair to call Kirk a bit of a Barberton icon. 😊

One of the things we would really love to do as part of his retirement is hear from people who have worked with Kirk over the years. We know a lot of you may have moved on from Merryweather, but still follow us here on Facebook or Instagram.

We’re excited to spotlight the next generation of problem-solvers coming out of the Four Cities Compact Advanced Manufacturing Program at Barberton High School!

These high school juniors just completed a Lean Six Sigma 5S Kaizen project — improving organization, efficiency, and safety in their lab. Every student earned their Yellow Belt certification in the process. That’s real-world impact, not just textbook learning.

At Merryweather Foam, we’re passionate about continuous improvement — and it’s inspiring to see these students already embracing that mindset. With the right tools and support, they’re showing exactly what the future of manufacturing can look like.
