June is Dairy Month and here in New York, we enjoy supporting and celebrating one of our largest agricultural industries.

New York is one of the largest dairy-producing states in the country, and the farms that feed that legacy need infrastructure that keeps up. Healthy fields start with healthy drainage, and for dairy farms, that means tile systems that move water efficiently, protect soil structure, and support forage yields when it matters most.

At Alleghany Services, supporting dairy operations across New York isn't just what we do, it's where we come from. From subsurface drainage design to surface intake control, we help farms stay productive from the ground up.

We were proud to be part of this year's Kinderfarmin' program put on by Genesee County Farm Bureau ! This annual event introduces every kindergartener in Genesee County (around 550!) to the many people, businesses, and industries that work together to support agriculture throughout our region.

At our Alleghany station, students learned about the important role maps play in the work we do every day. From helping farmers manage their land and water resources to planning drainage and irrigation projects, maps are a valuable tool in modern agriculture. Students even had the opportunity to explore maps to find their school and where they live!

Thank you to the Genesee County Farm Bureau for organizing another outstanding event and to all of the volunteers who helped make the day such a success. We were honored to be part of this valuable learning experience for the next generation!

Happy to be a sponsor of the Oakfield Alabama Future Farmers of America!

FFA helps prepare students to become the next generation of leaders in agriculture, business, and their communities through hands-on learning and leadership opportunities. Investing in young people is investing in the future, and we're honored to support their efforts!

Finishing out the night at the Batavia Muckdogs. Thanks Alleghany Farm Services, LLC for the sponsorship.

June is National Dairy Month! It is a time to recognize the hardworking people and families who help make New York one of the top dairy-producing states in the country.

Did you know New York dairy farms produce more than 16 billion pounds of milk each year, making New York the fifth largest dairy state in the nation?

Today’s dairy industry continues to focus on sustainability, innovation, and protecting natural resources through practices that support soil health, improve water quality, and reduce emissions.

At Alleghany, we’re proud to support the agricultural community through water management solutions that help farms operate efficiently and sustainably for future generations.

Thank you to all those who work every day to keep New York agriculture strong!

UPDATE - The calves are HOME SAFE! We are so grateful to our local community, the ag community and law enforcement for all of the assistance in helping get our heifers back to us. The Genesee County Sheriff's Office is working on leads and we look forward to the full prosecution of anyone involved. We're so grateful and relieved! ❤️🎉

This is a post we hoped we'd never have to write. 💔 We had 17 calves stolen from our calf facility on Bliss Road very early Sunday morning. Our primary concern is the health and wellbeing of these calves and having them returned safely. The perpetrators appeared to drive west on Lockport Road toward the Alabama Hotel/Holley Farm intersection after leaving our facility. If any neighbors have cameras that catch passing traffic, we'd really appreciate if you could check for a truck hauling a cattle trailer passing between 1-3 am on Sunday. Cattle industry folks, we'd appreciate if you could keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell calves that fit this description or with new animals that showed up overnight. The calves are the approximate age and size of the calves in the photo - 5 month old Holstein heifers. Their ear tags look like those in the photo, they have an electronic ID button tag and 1 or 2 large floppy tags. If you have any information that could be helpful, you can contact the Genesee County Sheriffs office. Again, we just want our calves back safely and are very concerned about their wellbeing. Your help and prayers are appreciated.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is a time of reflection, gratitude, and respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day.

At Alleghany, we are proud to work alongside employees who have served in the military, and we are grateful for the perspective, dedication, and leadership they bring to our team.

As we spend time with loved ones this weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day; to remember, to honor, and to never forget.

Today, we celebrate the tiny pollinators that make a BIG impact. Bees are responsible for pollinating nearly 75% of the world’s flowering plants and about one-third of the food we eat. Without them, our ecosystems and our food systems would look very different.

At Alleghany, this day is a powerful reminder of how interconnected our work is with the environment around us. Just like bees play a critical role in sustaining natural systems, our work is rooted in supporting sustainable practices, strengthening local communities, and protecting the resources that future generations depend on.
