The Small Press operator operates an injection molding machine, removing
parts from molds, cleaning excess plastic from the parts, inspecting then packing the parts. This position reports to the shift Molding Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
May run more than one machine per shift.
Communicates with previous and next shift’s operator about any problems with
the parts, machine or any special instructions for the job that is running
Has proper tools for the job they are assigned to
Removes parts from machine, makes sure part meets quality requirements,
removes excess plastic off part, Cleans oil, dirt or grease from part and packs into
carton, container or basket
Records number of good parts, number of scrap parts with accuracy
Writes needed information on cartons and assists others when work is caught up
Moves completed boxes to skid
Completes paperwork with accurate numbers
Communicates machine or production problems to Supervisor or Utility person
Watches machine hoppers to make sure material is getting into machines
Other duties as required by supervisor or other management
Frequently lifts and/or move up to 32 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves
up to 50 pounds.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months
related experience and/or training
Ability to read and write English
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in
written, oral or diagram form.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
