Armstrong Farms FARMING IS OUR PURPOSE Growing up on a farm, Harper Armstrong learned the values of hard-work and dedication. Aside from crop farming he also has cattle.

He started farming at a very early age, helping his father with their family farm. As he got older Harper devoted his career to agriculture farming starting with original farm owned by his father. Harper is a 3rd generation farmer that took the 100 acres of farmland his father left and as of today turned it into 2,500 acre farming operation spreading from Morehouse to Ouachita Parish. He plants a variety of crops such as wheat, corn, soybeans, rice, and cotton.

Armstrong Farms

Harper Armstrong is 74 years young and has been farming for over 50 years. He operates Armstrong Farms along with his wife Lois, and daughter Ashley. He attended Union High School and graduated in 1963. After graduation, he entered the United States Army and served as a Combat Engineer and a Quartermaster. Since his military duty, he has been a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.

Harper is a 3rd generation farmer that took the 100 acres of farmland his father left and has maintained over 2,500 acres spreading from Morehouse to Ouachita Parish. He has planted a variety of crops such as wheat, corn, soybeans, rice, and cotton. Aside from traditional crops he also grows produce such as peas, sweet corn, and watermelon.

Besides being a devoted husband and father, Harper is a respected leader in the community. He is an active deacon at St. Matthews 1# MBC, the President of the Morehouse Black Farmers & Landowners Association, founding member of the National Black Growers Council, a Board member of the Morehouse Activity Center, and becoming the first African American to represent the state of Louisiana for farmer of the Year for 2013.
