Before you dig, plant, fence, or start any yardwork project — Know What’s Below! 🌱🚧

Buried utility lines may be hidden underground, and striking them can cause serious injury, service interruptions, and costly repairs. That’s why TVEPA encourages Members to always call 811 before beginning any project that disturbs the ground.

Calling 811 is FREE, easy, and helps locate underground utilities such as:
⚡ Electric lines
📞 Telephone and fiber lines
🔥 Natural gas lines
💧 Water and sewer lines

Helpful Tips Before You Dig:
✔️ Call 811 at least a few business days before work begins
✔️ Wait until all utility lines are marked before digging
✔️ Respect the colored flags and paint markings
✔️ Dig carefully around marked utility areas
✔️ Even small projects like planting trees, installing mailboxes, or putting up fences require an 811 locate request

A quick call before you dig can help protect your family, neighbors, and vital utility infrastructure. Stay safe and always Know What’s Below!

Hurricane season doesn’t just impact the coast. Even here in North Mississippi, the aftermath of landfall can bring severe thunderstorms, high winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding that may damage power lines, poles, and electric infrastructure — leading to power outages across our service territory.

TVEPA encourages Members to plan and prepare ahead of storm season by gathering essential supplies before severe weather arrives:

✔️ Flashlights and extra batteries
✔️ Fully charged phones and portable power banks
✔️ Bottled water and non-perishable food
✔️ Battery-powered weather radio
✔️ Prescription medications and medical supplies
✔️ Backup power source for medical equipment
✔️ First aid kit
✔️ Fuel for generators (used safely outdoors only)
✔️ Blankets, hygiene items, and pet supplies
✔️ Important phone numbers saved and written down

Now is the time to review your emergency plan, know how to report outages, and make sure your family is prepared before storms develop. Staying prepared helps keep your household safer during severe weather events.

Update: as of 3:20pm power was restored.

Posted 5/30/26 at 2:50pm
There is an interruption of electric service at a substation affecting members south of Water Valley and over to Paris. (See map below.)

The outage requires heavy equipment for repairs. The machinery has been dispatched to the area and the work will be completed as quickly as possible. Once repairs are complete the substation feed will be reenergized and all meters will automatically restore.

We thank you for your understanding as crews work restoration.

Power outages can happen unexpectedly, so it’s important to plan ahead — especially if you or a loved one relies on medical equipment while sleeping. TVEPA encourages Members to be prepared by having a battery backup or alternate power source available for critical medical devices.

Here are a few ways to stay ready during an outage:
• Keep backup batteries fully charged and tested regularly
• Ask your medical equipment provider about portable battery options
• Consider a generator or uninterrupted power supply (UPS) for essential devices
• Keep flashlights, extra batteries, and phone chargers accessible
• Have a plan for where to go if extended outages occur
• Know your local emergency response contact information and save those numbers in your phone

Preparation today can provide peace of mind tomorrow. Stay safe, stay informed, and always have a backup plan in place.

There’s nothing quite like good weather, great food, and getting to see everyone! 🦞🌭💙

Last week, we enjoyed our annual TVEPA Crawfish Boil & Hot Dog Cookout, and it was great to all see one another as that doesn’t happen very often. From familiar faces we’ve shared many years with to several new faces joining the crowd, we are thankful for each employee who helps power our communities every single day.

As the years go by, some things naturally change — new team members arrive, roles evolve, and retirees take a long-awaited step back. But some things remain the same; like the strong sense of dedication to community that continues to define TVEPA.
We’re excited to welcome our newest employees. We’re glad you’re here and look forward to the many memories ahead!

Thank you to all of our employees for the hard work, commitment, and heart you bring to TVEPA each day. We appreciate you more than words can say.

POST EXPIRED

Update at 1:23pm Services from TVA have been restored to TVEPA's Blue Goose Substation. We thank you for your patience and understanding!

Update at 1:15pm TVA has informed us that they have made great progress with repairs and they will be working to reenergize our Blue Goose substation this afternoon.

Update at 10:30am Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA- our power distributor) is working to repair their lines that feed our substation. We do not have a specific time frame for restoration, but it should be later today. We understand the frustration of a lengthy outage, but rest assured TVA is working to restore service to TVEPA's substation. We appreciate your understanding.

Update at 8am (photos included)
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has crews dispatched to work restoration on their end. Their transmission line is damaged and must be rebuilt/repaired. Once that is completed our substation will be reenergized. This will be a lengthy outage due to the extent of the damage.

Posted 5/26/26 at 6am
TVEPA Members in the northwest region of our service territory have a loss of services due to a transmission line issue feeding our Blue Goose Substation.
Crews are on site. Once TVA’s feed is restored our substation will be back online.
We do not have an estimated time of restoration yet. We will post updates as they are received from the field.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.
