🇺🇸 Labor Day Holiday Closure Notice 🇺🇸

In observance of Labor Day, TVEPA offices will be closed Monday, September 7.

As we take time to recognize and celebrate the hardworking men and women who help power our communities, TVEPA crews will remain on-call for emergencies throughout the holiday.

Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

From all of us at TVEPA, we wish our Members and communities a safe, happy, and relaxing Labor Day! Thank you for allowing us the privilege of serving you. ❤️⚡💙

5:00am 9/7/26 All are RESTORED! We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as crews worked overnight.

Update at 1:15am
We are down to 3 separate outages affecting 39 meters. Crews are still working to restore all services.

Update at 10:35 pm
Meters affected 220
Crews will continue working restoration throughout the night.

Update at 8:30pm
Meters affected 357
Thankfully the severe weather has moved out of our service area and looks to have weakened. Crews continue to work to remove debris and make repairs to be able to restore power.
We thank you for your patience during the process.

Update at 6:00pm
Crews are working to restore service in multiple areas. Meters affected 582.
Temperatures are cooling down drastically since the storms are passing. It’s currently 72 degrees in Tate county, 85 in Panola and surrounding areas, down from about 103 this afternoon.

Storms are increasing and moving southward over our service area. Extreme winds are causing damage. ⚠️ We encourage everyone to have a way to get current weather alerts and warnings.

We have a few scattered outages, some are already restored.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as crews work in the unstable conditions to repair and restore service.

🧊❤️ A Well-Loved Fridge Runs Better!

Your refrigerator works hard every day to keep your food fresh, so give your favorite appliance a little TLC! A clean, well-maintained fridge can run more efficiently and help maximize its useful life.

Here are a few simple ways to show your fridge some love:

✨ Don’t overfill it. Keep enough space between items for cold air to circulate.
🧽 Clean the inside. Wipe up spills and regularly remove expired food so your fridge isn’t working harder than necessary.
🧹 Check the bottom vent. Dust, dirt and pet hair can collect around vents and restrict airflow. Keep the area clean and clear.
🔧 Clean behind the fridge. Dust can build up around the coils and back of the appliance. Gently clean the area according to your manufacturer’s instructions.
📏 Give it some breathing room. Make sure there is adequate space around the refrigerator for proper airflow.

A little cleaning and maintenance can go a long way toward helping your fridge run better, last longer and use energy wisely. ⚡

☀️ Is heat fooling your thermostat? 🌡️

Your thermostat can only measure the temperature of the air around it. If something nearby is adding heat—or blocking the airflow—it can cause your system to run longer than necessary.

This summer, help your thermostat work smarter:
• 🚫 Keep lamps and other heat-producing electronics away from the thermostat.
• ☀️ Keep direct sunlight from hitting the thermostat.
• 🍳 Avoid placing heat-producing appliances nearby.
• 💨 Don’t block the thermostat with furniture, curtains, or decorations.
• 🌀 Keep fans from blowing directly across the thermostat.
• 🚪 Avoid placing the thermostat near exterior doors or drafty areas.
• 🌡️ Keep vents and registers unobstructed so air can circulate properly.

A thermostat in the wrong spot can make your home feel hotter than it really is—and make your HVAC system work harder.
