Wishing a very Happy Birthday to our co-Founder and CFO, Maureen Hassett!

Maueen is a leader in the composite manufacturing industry and in business growth and change management. Using her incredible depth of knowledge and experience, she has managed many facets of the business over its 25 years of operations.

She’s active in supporting the Maine small business community and her local community in Bath. In her free time, she is an avid skier and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.

Project Highlight: Robo Hull Fabrication

In the series of photos below you can see one of our latest projects to construct a 22’ catamaran hull.

The process started with loading the gel coat into the mold, then we moved to a wet lamination layer to act as a backing to the gel coat. From there, we loaded in fiberglass core and used vacuum infusion to infuse the part.

You can also see the finished gel coat from the bow angle below.

The gel coat and infusion process took our team approximately 1 week and the project from mold-completion to the first finished hull was around 1 month.

CCTI is growing!

We’re excited to welcome our latest team member, Andrew, as a Composite Tech 1. Andrew is a Maine native just like CCTI and is an avid kayaker. (He can tell you the best spots around the mid-coast).

Andrew is new to the composites industry but brings a strong work ethic, positive attitude and curiosity to the job and we’re so glad to have him on our growing team.

Our awesome crew member, Issac, working on some details for new toe rails to fit a 40x Hinckley yacht.

Toe rails are safety features that are installed along the deck's perimeter. They provide critical stability for footing, ensure that equipment stays on board, and serve as mounting points for lines or blocks.

We created these specific parts using a vacuum-infusion process with fiberglass.

Project highlight: Rooftop for a 38’

Below you can see our team hard at work installing cured fiberglass caps over fabricated wire chases for a 38” rooftop.

Rooftops need to be strong but relatively lightweight with a polished finish, making them an excellent and common use case for composite manufacturing.

This is a custom rooftop project which typically has a liner to incorporate the wire chases, yet we built in the wire chase and finished over them to be unseen.
