🏫 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Helix AI & Medical Academy 🏫

Buquet & Leblanc is proud to have served as the General Contractor for the newly completed Helix AI & Medical Academy in Opelousas. We were honored to participate in yesterday’s grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony, which brought together students, families, faculty, elected officials, and community leaders to celebrate this significant achievement.

The event featured a formal program followed by a tour of the state-of-the-art educational facility, which will soon welcome students eager to pursue studies in artificial intelligence and healthcare. This project represents a meaningful investment in the future of education in St. Landry Parish, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute alongside our project partners: Grace Hebert Curtis Architects and Fox-Nesbit Engineering.

We extend our congratulations to Helix Community Schools and all involved in bringing this project to life, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this institution will have on its students and the broader community.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Alfred “Al” Pickett, a former owner and integral part of the Buquet & LeBlanc family. Al was a mentor, a friend, and a part of our company’s legacy.
Al's impact on Buquet & LeBlanc began as an intern and lasted for over 40 years. He was a proud member of LSU's first graduating class in Construction Management, and he was respected in our industry for over three decades.
Beyond his professional achievements, Al had an infectious passion for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
We'll miss Al deeply, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. In true Al fashion, his wish was simple: "Take an old friend to lunch." A meaningful gesture that truly embodies the kind of man he was.

Project Update: Burden Welcome Center

We’ve completed the foundations and the first slab pour at the Burden Welcome Center! Big progress on site, and we’re excited to kick off framing in the coming weeks. Stay tuned as this project continues to take shape!
