Heat pumps are designed to operate in winter conditions — snow on top is normal. What isn’t okay is ice buildup, blocked airflow, or units buried after plowing.

Quick tips:
🌨️ Keep 12–18 inches clear around the unit
🌨️ Don’t chip ice with tools
🌨️ Never cover it while running

Teamwork with the best!! Got Mold NC

The homeowner didn’t do anything wrong here.

An improperly installed HVAC system at the time of construction created moisture issues that slowly allowed biological growth to overtake the HVAC closet. After Got Mold NC completed professional cleaning and sanitization, Penland Heating & AC Beaufort installed a new system the right way. J.W. and Tristan then finalized a prevention plan to protect the home long-term.
