This is a no cost to you in the Beaumont and surrounding 409 area program. In order to qualify for this part of the program must have central air only (no window units). Must a single family home (no apts,mobile homes, townhomes etc.) The funds are provided by the rate payers (Utility Customers) and regulated by the public utility commission. The current state law requires local utility companies
to make funds available to approved contractors (Utilisave), so that you, the rate payer have the opportunity to improve the energy efficiency to your home. The main goal of the energy efficiency program is to achieve cost-effective reduction during your peak demand. This will benefit you and the environment. The type of work done in the home would include a pressurization test to find air leakage and where it is coming from in your home. Once the leakage is found necessary steps are taken to seal areas like doors with weather stripping, caulking around windows and vents, and going up into the attic to check air ducts for leaks, tears and disconnections and making necessary repairs. In order for your home to qualify for the energy efficiency upgrades it must be single family home, have working central heat and air, and have never participated in the program before. We just need to ask you a few more questions to see if your home meets the requirements to participate in the weatherization program.
