Young Manufacturing Company mourns the passing of Sam Drake, a valued colleague and leader whose dedication and service helped shape our company for more than five decades.

Sam began his career with Young Manufacturing Company on March 27, 1961, and served faithfully until his retirement on June 29, 2012. During his tenure, he held the role of Vice President and Lumber Buyer, where his expertise, integrity, and steady leadership made a lasting impact on our company and the industry as a whole.

Sam was known not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for his kindness, loyalty, and genuine care for those around him. He was a trusted colleague, mentor, and friend to many, and his contributions will long be remembered.

We also note with deep sadness the passing of Sam’s beloved wife, Ruth, who preceded him in death by just three days. Their lives were closely intertwined, and their passing so near to one another speaks to the deep bond they shared. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Young Manufacturing Company honors Sam’s legacy and the many years of service he devoted to our organization. He will be greatly missed.
