The City of Beavercreek has dedicated approximately $3.75 million to its 2026 Street resurfacing and Curb Replacement Program to improve residential roadways and replace deteriorated curbs throughout the community. The program includes resurfacing approximately 13.06 centerline miles of streets and replacing about 11,214 feet of curbs in 2026, exceeding the city's annual goal of 12 centerline miles.

Beavercreek City Council increased funding for the program last year in an effort to meet this annual target and align with the city's recommended 20-year life cycle for residential roadways. Maintaining this cycle helps preserve pavement conditions and reduce the need for more costly repairs over time.

Road resurfacing is determined using pavement condition ratings, or PCR, an engineering evaluation established by the Ohio Department of Transportation, based on inspections of roadways to assess deterioration. Streets with the lowest ratings receive priority for resurfacing.

Curb replacement work includes removing and replacing sections of deteriorated curb. Additionally, driveway aprons on streets scheduled for paving that do not meet current city standards will be upgraded.

The resurfacing contract is expected to begin in mid May and continue through October. The city also noted a decrease in asphalt costs, from approximately $95 per ton in 2025 to about $80 per ton in 2026. This reduction allows the city to maximize the number of streets addressed within the program budget.

Residents may notice "Police Order No Parking" signs posted on streets in advance of construction. Contractors are required to place these signs at least 48 hours prior to work and may include details about the type of work and anticipated duration.

During construction, access to streets will be maintained. Curb replacement will occur on one half of the roadway at a time, with flaggers directing traffic as needed. Roadways will reopen to two-way traffic at the end of each workday. During resurfacing, flaggers will also be present to guide vehicles safely through paving operations.

Drivers will typically be permitted to travel on newly paved surfaces approximately 30 minutes after asphalt is placed and compacted, as directed by flaggers. Newly installed concrete curbs require five to seven days to cure. Contractors will notify affected property owners in advance with specific guidance on driveway access during curb replacement.

For more information, including a list of streets and curbs including in this year's program can be found on the city's website at beavercreekohio.gov/engineering. Residents with additional questions should contact the city's engineering division by emailing [email protected] or calling 937-427-5513.
