Here is a little snippet from our latest blog post. Hope you enjoy.

"In various ways wind is responsible for the beginning of civilization as we know it. The ancient Greeks, Persians, and Phoenicians were renowned masters of sailing and navigation and depended on the wind as their main power source for sailing across the oceans. Whether the impetus for these ancient cultures’ sailing was trade, war, or pure exploration— and sometimes all of these at the same time— the wind was what drove them forward— it was their most precious resource and their greatest ally, but when it became unruly it could also be their worst enemy and mortal threat."

Wind is and has always been a mystery. Since the beginning of time humans have tried to understand the wind as well as capture its power and obtain some level of mastery of it. In various ways wind is responsible for the beginning of civilization as we know it. The ancient Greeks, Persians, and Phoe...

It's great to see young designers working in the field of wind energy and sustainability. Berlin-based product designer Tobias Trübenbacher created a wind-powered street light called Papilio that was designed to combat energy pollution in two ways: it’s wind-powered, which reduces its dependence on electricity, and the light itself has a motion sensor that’s only activated when someone passes underneath it. Check it out.

The Papilio lamps look like giant pinwheels but are actually energy-saving lights that are entirely off the grid.

Not only are our products made and serviced in America, but they are serviced by the men and women who make them. In house service on anemometers by the very same technicians who produce them allows us to have industry-leading turnaround time on service and repair work, which means that our customers get their anemometers back fast.

At Etesian Wind Sensors we take pride in the fact that every anemometer, display, and antenna we produce is made and serviced right here in our facility in Cleveland, Ohio. All of our products are “Made and Serviced in America.” Not only are our products made and serviced in America, but they ar...

In this post, learn about how our wireless anemometer wind speed system performs on the high seas in very high, 107 mph winds. Included are two videos of what these high winds look like.

Our anemometers serve a number of different industries, from wind farms and construction sites (cranes) to outdoor events rigging, freight ships, and aerospace. The cool thing about this particular customer, Horizon Shipping, is that they took the time to document our anemometer’s operation during...

In this blog you will learn how we came up with a boutique solution that helped SpaceX increase the transmission distance of their Etesian anemometers to better meet their particular needs.

Sometimes we get asked to supply our anemometers for situations that are quite different than the typical crane or fountain control applications that we are used to. One such time occurred a couple of years ago when SpaceX— yes the SpaceX putting rockets into orbit and supplying the international ...

For crane operators, unexpected wind gusts pose one of the most significant risks they will face on the job. At Etesian Wind Sensors we believe that being aware of your environment and precisely knowing what it is doing at any specific time through the use of high quality anemometers and wind sensors is one of the best ways to stay safe.

For crane operators, unexpected wind gusts pose one of the most significant risks they will face on the job. Statistical as well as anecdotal evidence supports this claim time and time again. For instance, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) reports that, “Between 2000 and 2010, there...

In this article you'll learn about the founding of Etesian, from its beginnings in Amherst, Massachusetts to its new home in Cleveland, Ohio. You'll also learn about the patented, wireless wind sensor technology that makes Etesian unique in the anemometer market. We hope you enjoy.

For Bill Stein, a senior research fellow at the Renewable Energy Research Laboratory in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, wind is more than a 9-to-5 job. On his own time, Stein has developed and patented a self-powered and wireless anemo...
